In granting this sanction it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event.

 

In granting this sanction, LESD agreed to comply and to enforce all health and safety mandates and guidelines of USA Swimming, LE, the State of Ohio and Stark County (local jurisdiction).

RISK OF EXPOSURE TO COVID 19:   An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and individuals with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.

 

USA Swimming, Inc., cannot prevent you (or your child(ren)) from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while participating in USA Swimming sanctioned events. It is not possible to prevent against the presence of the disease. Therefore, if you choose to participate in a USA Swimming sanctioned event, you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.

 

BY ATTENDING OR PARTICIPATING IN THIS COMPETITION, YOU VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH EXPOSURE TO COVID-19 AND FOREVER RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS USA SWIMMING AND [THE LSC] AND EACH OF THEIR OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AGENTS, EMPLOYEES OR OTHER REPRESENTATIVES FROM ANY LIABILITY OR CLAIMS INCLUDING FOR PERSONAL INJURIES, DEATH, DISEASE OR PROPERTY LOSSES, OR ANY OTHER LOSS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE AND GIVE UP ANY CLAIMS YOU MAY HAVE TO SEEK DAMAGES, WHETHER KNOWN OR UNKNOWN, FORESEEN OR UNFORESEEN, IN CONNECTION WITH EXPOSURE, INFECTION, AND/OR SPREAD OF COVID-19 RELATED TO PARTICIPATION IN THIS COMPETITION.

 

COVID PROTOCOLS: 

  • All local health and safety protocols will be followed.
  • Masks shall be worn and social distancing shall be implemented at all times except for when the swimmer is up on the blocks and in the water.
  • A locker room will be available for use by the swimmers only.  A monitor (not allowed inside) will be posted outside the locker room and will limit the number of swimmers inside to affect social distancing. 
  • Swimmers should arrive/depart in their suit. They will not be allowed to share caps, goggles, food and drinks.
  • Only two (2) swimmers shall be permitted to wait behind the blocks at any given time. 1 swimmer at a time to communicate with a coach, while maintaining social distance. 
  • Restrooms in the hallway will be available for spectators.  Limits will be posted on site. 
  • Local health guidelines will be followed for gatherings of spectators.  A COVID Marshall will be on site to ensure all are following the guidelines.  Failure to comply with state and local guidelines may result in removal from facility. 
  • Parents shall have access to their swimmers and be able to observe them.

 

LOCATION: 

C.T. Branin Natatorium, 1715 Harrison Ave NW, Canton, OH 44708 (Next to the Pro Football Hall of Fame).

 

POOL: 

50 meters by 8 lanes, Colorado Timing system with digital scoreboard.  Spectator seating for over 2000 people. Diving well for continuous warm-up and warm-down during competition.  The depth of the pool at the start end is 9 feet 0 inches to 7 feet 0 inches.  The depth at the turn end is 3 feet 6 inches.

 

RACING STARTS: 

Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water.  When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.

 

STARTING TIMES:

Friday session warm-ups will be 4:45 – 5:30 p.m., with competition starting at 5:35 p.m

Both Saturday and Sunday morning session warm-ups will be 7:45 – 8:30 a.m., with competition starting at 8:35 a.m. Warm-up will be split if the average number of swimmers per lane is scheduled to exceed 15 swimmers per lane, into a minimum of two groups, in which case warm-up shall be a minimum of thirty (30) minutes per group.  Afternoon warm-up will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the morning session.  Afternoon warm-up will be for a 45 minute period. Estimated afternoon start times will be posted at www.lakeerieswimming.com by Wednesday, June 2, 2021.  At the discretion of the Meet Director, warm ups may be split by gender or age group or team. 

 

ENTRY DEADLINE:

ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED BEFORE MONDAY, MAY 17 AT 9:00 P.M.  DO NOT SEND ENTRIES BEFORE MAY 17.  It is suggested that you sync your computer time with the official U.S. time clock found at http://www.time.gov/ prior to submitting your entries. 

The due date for entries, electronic or otherwise is Monday, May 24, 2021.   The meet will be closed before the entry deadline if the sessions are estimated to be at four hours or capacity is reached, so mail early Entries will be accepted and entered as they are received. Please do not send multiple copies of your entries. If multiple files are received, they will be considered revised files and will be entered by the most recent date and time.  The host team reserves the right to limit the number of heats in individual events 400 meters and over (see conduct). Electronic entries must be received by the postmark deadline or before the meet is closed.  Only unattached athletes will be accepted individually.  All others please submit entries by Hy-Tek, and include a hard copy, as well as the entry summary sheet.  Hard copy, meet summary sheet and check must be received by Wednesday, May 26, 2021.  Email:  [email protected] the TM file and hard copy.

TEAM SUPERVISION: 

Teams who are entering swimmers but will not have a coach at the meet should arrange ahead of time for another coach to supervise their athletes.  Swimmers without coach supervision must contact the Meet Director or Meet Referee to be assigned to a coach on deck.

 

RETURN TO PLAY LAW: 

Under the Ohio Return to Play Law governing concussions, all coaches and officials (in state or out of state) are required to have proof of training in concussion signs and symptoms. This training is available for free and can be found at http://www.NFHSlearn.com/self_courses.  All coaches and officials are encouraged to take this training. It is your responsibility to take care of this requirement.

 

ENTRY FEES:

$50.00 which includes events, admission for 1 spectator, digital heat sheet and LESI swimmer surcharge.

There is a $2.00/swimmer handling fee for entries not furnished in an electronic file.  Make checks payable to Swim CCS. 

 

ENTRY LIMITATIONS

Swimmers may enter three (3) individual events/day exclusive of relays. 

 

DECK ENTRIES:

Deck entries will NOT be accepted.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Swimmers must be current athlete members of USA Swimming. Coaches must be current coach members of USA Swimming and must check in for each meet or session they attend. All coaches must display the deck pass (wristband is required to be worn by all coaches) issued by the meet host. Age is as of the first day of the meet, June 4, 2021.  On deck USA Swimming registration will not be available.

 

QUALIFYING TIMES:

No qualifying times for this meet.  Please list times in long course meters.

 

SWIMMERS WITH A DISABILITY: 

Entries for swimmers with a disability should be handled in the following manner: (1) enter the swimmer in the Hy-Tek database (or on the regular entry form); (2) list in the email accompanying the Hy-Tek entry file (or on a separate sheet of paper) the name of the swimmer, the stroke(s)/distance(s) s/he wishes to swim, the entry times, the day/session s/he wishes to swim the event(s), and the manner in which s/he prefers to be seeded (with a longer distance or with a different age group); and (3) provide any information about special accommodations needed by the swimmer. The final determination of seeding will be made by the Meet Referee after consultation with the swimmer and his/her coach.

 

CONDUCT: 

The meet will be conducted according to the rules set forth in the current USA Swimming Rules and Regulations.  Events will be contested in a 50-meter course and will be timed finals. All 10 & Under events will be scored 8 & Under and 9-10.  The 1500 Free (event 1) will be mixed and swam fastest to slowest and heats may be limited.  The 400 IM (Events 42 & 43) and 400 Free (Events 84 and 85) will be swam fastest to slowest, alternating women & men and heats may be limited.  Swimmers will be notified by Wednesday, May 26 if heats will be limited.  If a swimmer gets closed out of an event, he/she will be able to choose another event. 

 

SEEDING & CHECK IN:  

All events will be pre-seeded. There will not be a penalty for missed events; however, swimmers should email the entry chair, Sarah Tobin, at [email protected] to scratch events especially the 1500 free, 400 free or 400 IM by Wednesday, June 2 at 6:00 p.m.

In accordance with 102.1.4, events may be seeded together but scored separately.  The Lake Erie scratch rule (attached) will be in effect. 

 

SCORING:

Meet will not be scored.

 

CLERK OF COURSE

A Clerk of Course will NOT be provided.

ADMISSION COST:   

One (1) spectator per swimmer will be permitted.  Admission fee and digital heat sheets are included with the entry fee.  Digital heat sheets will be sent out Thursday, June 3 to teams attending the meet.

 

RESULTS:

Results will be posted on www.lakeerieswimming.com web site.  Teams may request a TM file at the conclusion of the meet.

 

TIME TRIALS: 

Will not be offered.

 

SAFETY/WARM-UP:

Lake Erie Swimming safety guidelines and warm-up procedures will be in effect at all times.  Coaches must maintain contact with their swimmers during warm-up.  All entry into the pool for warm-up is feet first from the starting block end of the pool.  Swimmers must enter the pool feet first in a cautious manner with one hand in contact with the pol edge.  There is no diving during warm-up, except in designated sprint lanes. The final 20 minutes of a 45-minute warm-up shall be conducted as follows: 

  .

  1. Lanes 1 & 8 push/pace from the start end of the pool (or general warm-up at the direction of the Meet Referee or his/her designee.)

 

  1. Lanes 2 & 7 sprint lanes for racing starts from the starting block end of the pool, one length only and exiting the pool.

 

  1. Lanes 3 – 6 general warm-up, no diving or racing starts.  Any or all of these lanes may be converted to sprint lanes at the discretion of the Meet Referee or his/her designee.

 

Swimmers are to sprint one way and climb out at the far end of the pool.  Swimmers may be removed from warm-up for violating safety rules.

 

CAMERA ZONES: 

Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, restrooms, or locker rooms.  Additionally, under NO circumstances will Camera Zones include the area immediately behind the starting blocks at either end of the racing course(s) while they are in use for race starts during competition and warm-up. Those failing to abide by this rule may be removed from the venue.

 

DRONES: 

Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials, and/or spectators are present.

 

DECK CHANGES:

Deck changes are not permitted

 

INIITIAL DISTANCE

In order to be certain that an initial distance or lead-off relay leg is entered into SWIMS, the swimmer or the swimmer’s coach should notify either the meet referee or the admin before the event and provide the necessary watches as back-up to the electronic timing.  All lead-off relay splits will automatically be uploaded to SWIMS after admin approval; for all other initial distances, the proper paperwork must be completed after the swim in order for the time to be entered into SWIMS.

 

OFFICIATING OPPORTUNITY:

Anyone that is a USA Swimming certified official is welcome and encouraged to join the Lake Erie Swimming (LESI) officials in officiating this meet.  Please contact the meet director, Russ Hunt or LESI’s Officials Chair, Bob Martens, in advance of the meet if at all possible to let either know of your availability.  The meet director’s and official’s chair contact information is listed below. Each team will be permitted one coach per session.  Additional coaches may be added after the entry deadline.  This will allow more swimmers to participate.  Coaches must show their current certification and will receive a wristband that must be worn during the meet.  Hospitality will be limited.  Please plan accordingly.

 

NOTE: 

Only athletes entered in the meet, working coaches, officials, and meet workers are allowed on deck.  Other non-participants are expected to remain in the spectator area.

DIRECTIONS:

From the North: Exit I-77 at Fulton Road exit.  Continue across Fulton about 4 blocks to dead-end.  Turn left toward I-77.  Turn left into McKinley High School complex.  The Natatorium is on your right.  Find a place to park in McKinley parking lot.

 

From the South: Exit I-77 at 13th (Mercy Hospital) exit. Turn left under I-77 to second light (Broad Ave). Right on Broad to 17th Street.  Right on 17th about three blocks.  McKinley High School is on the left with parking lot in front.  Turn left in the complex.  The Natatorium is on your right.  Find a place to park in McKinley parking lot.
