What are Time Trials?
Time Trials are an opportunity for swimmers to get times in as many strokes as they can in a meet-like setting. Swimmers are encouraged to swim all four strokes and may be asked to swim a stroke that they do not consider their favorite. Coaches would like to see times of their swimmers when they swim the different strokes. All teams in the NVSL (Northern Virginia Swimming League) have Time Trials about a week or two after practice begins and before the first  Meet. There is no scoring in Time Trials. The only swimmers attending Time Trials are Highlands' swimmers. Time Trials are held in the competition pool at Highlands. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR SWIMMERS TO OBTAIN TIMES IN AS MANY EVENTS AS POSSIBLE PRIOR TO OUR FIRST MEET.
Time Trials is for Swim Team members only. Mini Whompers do not participate in Time Trials.
What should swimmers wear?
Swimmers should wear their team suit if they have one or other appropriate racing style suit. For the boys, this means no board shorts or trunks. Instead either jammer or brief style suits. For the girls a racing style one piece suit. All swimmers should wear swim caps and proper fitting goggles.
