See note below from meet hosts Patrick and Katie Norman of Ad
Astra Area Aquatics. Meet will now be in Topeka instead of
Lawrence (a bit of a closer drive for us!), Sat-Sun Oct. 9-10.
We will need entries turned into the GOAL website by
Sep. 24. As soon as the Sun. PM (younger
swimmers) meet info is available, we will forward that on to
everyone and offer sign ups on our website for that.
Thank you all for being patient with us in releasing our event
file and official meet info. We expect to offer a great meet
this year and are excited to host all of you.
We will be running the meet in Topeka, KS at the Capitol
Federal Natatorium. We believe this facility offers a better
tank with recent facility upgrades (air handling system,
blocks, etc) and space for athletes/spectators. Unfortunately,
the scoreboard is being replaced, and will not be in use.
Katie and I decided that in a no meet vs no scoreboard
scenario - we would take the meet option. We are
exploring options to fix this situation in the coming weeks.
Restrictions in Lawrence prohibited us from running our usual
quality meet like we would expect to offer visiting
We will offer 5 sessions:
Saturday Distance mid-day
We will also be offering a meet for all teams and their
younger/novice athletes on Sunday PM as we look to maximize
opportunities at this new location. We will move up our
Saturday and Sunday AM warmup up times
to accommodate this format. This new format is different from
years past, however we feel our region is excited to race a
variety of events including 50s of stroke and the 100IM.
We understand some of you may be disappointed we will not be
in Lawrence - as we too love our hometown. However, this meet
will continue to serve as one of our regions best early
season opportunities to race. Thanks and see you all very
Patrick and Katie
