Age Group Mini-Meet (Mobile, AL)
We are excited to have so many new families this season and hope your child has enjoyed practices so far. Traditionally (prior to COVID) we begin our season with an inter-squad meet for our age group swimmers in September, followed by an education session for both kids and parents alike. During this meeting, we cover USA Swimming meet rules, introduce coaches, share team expectations, and answer questions from parents.
We have several parents who have expressed interest in swim meets and we recognize the desire for more information for our new Big Fish. So, we are going to host this event for athletes in AG1 and AG2 on Saturday, September 25 at Bishop. We feel like this event will be a good introduction for these young athletes and be a better fit than the meet in Panama City Beach. This “mini meet” would be a chance for both Bishop and Mirror Lake locations to come together, practice racing starts, go over USA Swimming meet rules, and do some fast swims off the block for a time. This will also be a great chance for the kids to meet all the age group staff members and we encourage all of our new swim families to participate.
You will receive an email with a link inviting you to commit to an event on the team website so that you can sign-up your athletes. This process will be both an educational opportunity for parents to complete meet commitments and give coaches an accurate athlete count. This event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m for AG2, and 9:00 to 10:00 a.m for AG1 swimmers. A brief meet warm up will be included, as well as a chat with the coaches.
For the parent forum, we will host a brief parent education session over Zoom prior to the mini-meet so everyone is on the same page. At the end of the session, we will give you an opportunity to ask general questions. If you have any question(s) specific to your athlete, please reach out to Megan or I in an email following the session. A link to this meeting will be distributed to age group families soon.
We look forward to seeing a large number of our Big Fish at this event.
