Del Norte Series #3
We encourage all 14 & under swimmers to attend this meet (and any others in the 4-meet series) who are seeking more competition experience in a low-key environment and/or would like the chance to achieve State Qualifiying times. The meet information file with full details will be posted when it becomes available.
Location: Westside Natatorium, 650 Wallenberg Drive, El Paso, TX (approximately 30 minutes from Las Cruces).
Type of Meet: This is a Saturday, two session meet, 8&U first and 9-14 second. The second session will start no earlier than 10:30am. 13-14 age group has been added to include older new swimmers just starting to swim this season because of COVID. It is the third meet in a series of 4 meets throughout the fall/winter.
Meet Format: The 2021 Del Norte Series Swim Meets are a series of four meets, short course yards (25 yards pool), timed final. The purpose of these meets is to introduce new age group swimmers to the conduct of swim meets and to the policies and procedures of competitive swimming organized under USA Swimming. The meets will intentionally be run in a more relaxed manner to help the developing swimmers (and swim parents) become familiar with the meet process. However, all current USA Swimming rules will be enforced. All parents, coaches, swimmers, and officials are urged to be patient and supportive. As well as new swimmers, there will be new coaches and new officials on deck.
Time Standards: There are no minimum time standards to enter this meet. However, athletes may NOT enter an event in which they have previously achieved a "BB time" (also known as a State Qualifying time) or other maximum time otherwise stated for that age group prior to the FIRST Del Norte, October 10th, in either short course or long course competition. They may, however, enter other events in the meet which they have not received a "BB" time. This type of meet is intended for developmental swimmers.
Special Awards: The Del Norte Series will be a “cumulative points meet” with awards given to the top THREE High Point winners for each age group at the conclusion of the SERIES (four meets).
