(this is a team hosted event)

Here are some reminders prior to the 3rd Meet

  • Pep Rally:  Friday at 4:50!  There will be fun activities planned.  Please turn out for practice and join the fun when the younger group finishes a little early and before the older group begins their practice. We will have Big and Little Seahawks together to work on cheers and posters. And should I say...PIGEON! (If you don't know what that means, just tell your Seahawk, they know!)
  • Meet Arrival:  Please arrive no later than 4:45pm on Tuesday to check in with the coaches.  Any changes either team must make have to be submitted by 5:15pm.  Our warm-up will also begin around 5:00pm.
  • Officials:  We are still in need of Timers and Stoke & Turn Officials for the meet.  Please sign up.  The meet cannot begin until all positions are filled. For the S&T Officials who were not able to attend training this year or are looking for a refresher to boost your confidence, please watch the following video on YouTube:  (
  • Timers:  We need to fill 18 timer slots (9 per half).  All families are expected to assist in conducting the meet.
  • Meet Officiating:  The meet will be officiated in accordance with League/USA Swim Rules.  Swimmers will be monitored for stroke and turn infractions.  The website has a section on proper stroke technique (under “From Coach Jay”).  All swimmers are encouraged to review the short videos.  You can also access the link above to see what the officials are looking at for each event.
  • We will send out the Heat Sheet with lane assignments as soon as we have the scratches done on Friday night.  Please have your swimmers ready and help the Clerks of Course.
  • Adult Relay:  Most meets have an adult relay at half-time (4 x 25M).  Seahawk parents are encouraged to informally organize up to 3 teams.  Don’t forget your swimsuits…Speedos are discouraged!
  • Concessions:  We will have both breakfast and later, lunch items at the concessions.  There is no need to swing through fast food if you are running late in the morning.
  • What to Expect?: Check out the Page on our site for how to prepare for the meet.  Make sure you follow my recommendations, especially if this is your first meet with GCC.
  • Last Event:  When your swimmers wims the last event, please check in with the Coaching staff, in case there is a change in relays at the end of the meet. Any scratches at the beginning of the meet will require changes in the end relays. Unfortunately, your swimmer may be moved to another relay or the relat with scratched swimmers could be scratched themselves.  But, other swimmers can be used to take their place. Remember, rules only allow 2 relays and 3 individual events. If your swimmer(s) is (are) in more than that, let the coaches know as this is not allowed by league rules.
  • Swimmers: Please remind the swimmers to speak to the coaches before and after the races, so that we can prepare them and provide feedback to them for their races.  This is an important part of the progression of swimming. They also will get a gummy worm for improvement in an event!

Seeya at the pool!
