Storm University of Minnesota HOME meet (VOLUNTEERS NEEDED)
(this is a team hosted event)
Storm Spring Invitational Long Course Meet
University of Minnesota Aquatic Center
Mark your calendars. Storm is hosting our fourth annual Spring Invitational Long Course meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, MN. This will be a large meet and a primary fundraiser for Storm. Many volunteers will be needed. This meet falls over Mother's Day and MN Fishing opener, so plan your festivities accordingly.
The meet will be run in a timed finals format. The pool is a world class, indoor, 50 meter long course facility. A separate diving well is available for warm-ups & cool downs. This meet is not recommended for new swimmers. Please speak with your swimmer's coach to see if your swimmer is ready for this early season long course meet.
FOOD & SEATING:
The University of MN sells limited concessions at the meet. Please remember to bring water bottles for your swimmer and guest spectators (they have a H20 bottle refilling station near concessions) and to pack some healthy snacks for your swimmer. The U of M charges approximately $5 for a small water bottle at concessions. Stadium/bleacher type seats are allowed in the stands for your guests. There are many restaurants and convenience stores located within walking distance of the pool.
Storm would like to ask that swimmers, families/fans and volunteers consider bringing a reusable water bottle. There is a water bottle re-filling station near concessions upstairs.
Please be aware that the U of M will have many commencement ceremonies taking place throughout the weekend of our U of M home meet. Bear this in mind when making your transportation decisions. Plan to depart early for the pool to look for parking. You may want cash on hand in case they are charging event parking. Event parking requires cash vs. the credit card you normally use. The price varies depending on the parking lot.
Light rail is another option and there is a stop two blocks from the pool. See Metro Transit for schedule details.
