NCSA Age Group Championships
This event is for qualfiiers only. Please check the Meet Information Packet and make sure that your swimmer has qualified or is close to qualifying before declaring "Yes." If you are unsure whether or not you should be attending this meet, please e-mail Jon@condors.org.
As many of you know, we have been attending NCSA Junior Nationals for many years now - it is one of our target meets for our Senior swimmers across all facilities. The staff feels that NCSA Age Group Championships will be a great chance for our Age Group swimmers to challenge themselves by racing some of the best athletes in the country, as well as being a direct segue into qualifying for NCSA Junior Nationals as they reach the appropriate ages.
Important message from
I will be handling all communication for this meet, as well as entries. When it comes time to take care of these things, we will all confer indvidually.
NCSA Age Group Championships is a unique and elite meet. It allows for children to qualify as 9 & 10-year-olds, 11 & 12-year-olds, and 13 & 14-year-olds. The standards for each age are different (AA for "off ages" - 9, 11, 13, and AAA for "on ages" - 10, 12, 14). I will attach the Meet Info packet at the end of this e-mail in case you would like to familiarize yourself with the meet. Just qualifying for one event will get your swimmer 5 bonus events that do not have a time standard attached to them - something that makes this meet really worth traveling for. They get to compete at a very elite level in their best events, while also being given the opportunity to swim fast on taper on events that they may not be quite as good in. Be aware - making Finals is a big deal here, and they will be swimming against some of the best 14&Under talent in the Nation. This exposure on a National level is really great for our young developing swimmers, and will be a great boon for them to rely on when they start qualifying for meets like NCSA Jr. Nationals, USA Swimming Jr. Nationals and beyond.
I am going to have to put in a preliminary file for this meet Friday, December 15th (yes, while we are away at Pitt. I am going to be running around like a maniac on deck there, so I want all my ducks in a row for this when the time rolls around). If your child has already qualified and you know you plan to attend/decline, please let me know ASAP. You can also feel free to let me know if in the event your child does qualify, you would attend (I will not enter you then, but I will keep it filed and ready for when I finish entries. There is a $50 registration fee for the meet that is non-refundable - if you say yes, and I enter your child, and you decide to decline (and we cannot switch that registration to another qualifier) you WILL be on the hook for that amount. Just a heads up.
Please keep in mind this is NOT when you must qualify for the meet. We will be able to add swimmers all the way through JOs in March. That is also around when we will look to finalize entries. Like all things in life, planning ahead is a smart move, so I'm doing my best to pretend, here.
Looking forward to hearing back from all of you. Good luck to those competing this weekend looking for Pitt cuts. I hope that we can bring every single one of you down to Orlando. It's a blast!
