2018 MN Short Course Age Group State Championships

Meet Type: This is a 3 1/2 day Prelim/Finals for 13-14 and 11-12, and Timed Finals meet for 10 & Under swimmers  with verifiable “CH” qualifying times, or an individual event champion from the 2018 Winter Minnesota Regional Championships (a “Win it and swim it” qualifier).  This is a closed meet.  Only swimmers from the Minnesota LSC can participate.

Win it and Swim it: “Win it and swim it” qualifiers from the 2018 Winter Minnesota Regional Championships (MRC)

  • These are individual event champions from the MRC’s who have not achieved a “CH” time. There are no alternate “Win it and swim it” qualifiers from the MRC’s if the champion chooses not to enter the individual event at Age Group State.
  • Only “Win it and swim it” qualifiers age 14&U may enter the same event at Age Group State.

  • Win it and Swim it entrants must use their time from their qualifying MRC event to enter the corresponding event at Age Group State.
  • Relays may not be created using a single “Win it and swim it” qualifier. There must be at least one other swimmer in the gender and age group who qualified for the meet with an individual event “CH” time.
  • Swimmers being entered under this new criterion must note this on the hard copy of the entry sheet.
  • In events 500 yard/400 m in length and shorter the highest placing athlete not achieving the championship time standard in their age group and gender by event advances to the state meet.
  • In an event where an athlete qualifies for state as a “win it, swim it”, THEN ages up prior to state, that athlete WILL NOT be eligible to compete in that event at the state championship.  

Fees: $5.00 per entrant listed on the entry sheet, $5.50 per individual splash, $22.00 per relay and $15.00 facility fee.

  • Thursday March 22nd 11&O Finals: Warm-ups at 3:00PM, Meet starts at 4:00PM  
  • Friday March 23rd 11&O Prelims: Warm-ups at 6:45AM, Meet starts at 8:00AM  
  • Friday March 23rd 10&U Finals: Meet will not start before 1:00PM preceded by a minimum of a 60 minute warm-up period and a 10-minute break for a coaches meeting  
  • Friday March 23rd 11&O Finals: Meet will not start before 5:00PM preceded by a minimum of a 60minute warm-up period and a 10-minute break for a coaches meeting  
  • Saturday March 24th 11&O Prelims: Warm-ups at 6:45AM, Meet starts at 8:00AM  
  • Saturday March 24th 10&U Finals: Meet will not start before 1:00PM preceded by a minimum of a 60-minute warm-up period and a 10-minute break for a coaches meeting  
  • Saturday March 24th 11&O Finals: Meet will not start before 5:00PM preceded by a minimum of a 60-minute warm-up period and a 10-minute break for a coaches meeting  
  • Sunday March 25th 11&O Prelims: Warm-ups at 6:45AM, Meet starts at 8:00AM  
  • Sunday March 25th 1650 Finals: Meet will not start before 12:00PM preceded by a minimum of a 30minute warm-up period  
  • Sunday March 25th 10&U Finals: Meet will not start before 2:00PM preceded by a minimum of a 60 minute warm-up period and a 10-minute break for a coaches meeting  
  • Sunday March 25th 11&O Finals: Meet will not start before 5:00PM preceded by a minimum of a 60 minute warm-up period, and a 10-minute break for a coaches meeting

Directions: Approaching Rochester from the South or North on US Highway 52 take the 19th Street NW Exit. From the North, take a left across the bridge and continue onto Elton Hills Drive. Follow Elton Hills Drive to just before the intersection with Broadway (0.8 mile). The Rec Center is on the left prior to the Broadway intersection. If you approach from the South take the 19th Street Exit, veer right and continue through the light onto Elton Hills Drive. Follow Elton Hills Drive approximately 1 mile. Pool is on the Left. Entrance to the pool during competition is on the WEST side only

Entry Limitations:   Age of a swimmer is determined by their age on the first day of the meet.  

  • 13 & 14 - 3 individual events/day 7 event maximum + 2 time trials
  • 11 & 12 - 3 individual events/day 7 event maximum + 2 time trials
  • 10 & U - 4 individual events/day 8 event maximum including time trials

 

Relays do not count against limits.  All entries must be verifiable from January 1, 2017 to present.

 


TEAM COLORS – Please wear either black/gold or NSAC apparel for warm ups at all swim meets. This promotes a more unified presence and promotes more team pride.

SPORTSMANSHIP – Shake hands with opponents after races regardless if you won or lost, no goggle or cap throwing and only draw positive attention to our team.

EVENTS – Coaches have the final say in all events that swimmers compete in. If you are entered into an event you do not want to swim, still give it your best. The coaches have your best interest in mind and put you in events they believe you can swim.

BE EARLY – Please arrive 15 MINUTES prior to the start of meet warm ups.

COMMUNICATION – Speak with your coaches before and after each race.

CHEERING – It is important to cheer on your teammates throughout the duration of the whole meet. This helps to create a unified and supportive environment.
