Location:    Lake Orion High School

495 E. Scripps Road

Lake Orion, MI 48360

Times: Warm Up Starts: 9:00 a.m.; Events Begin: 10:00 a.m.

Hotels: Check your favorite hotel booking site for hotels in the area.

Facilities: Lake Orion High School is an 11-lane, 25-yard with 8 lanes used for competition. The separate 4-lane warm-up pool will not be available for warm ups or warm down. Pool depth ranges from 8.5 to 14 feet at the start and 3.5 to 14 feet at the turn. Relays will have in-the-water-starts at the turn end. Permanent starting blocks and non-turbulent lane markers will be used. Colorado timing with an 8-lane display will be used. There is ample balcony seating for spectators. Lockers are available (provide your own lock). Birmingham Blue Dolphins and Lake Orion High School assume no responsibility for lost articles. Public phones will not be available. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C (4).

Eligibility: The 2018 Michigan YMCA 8 & Under State Championship is for all eligible YMCA swimmers aged 8 and under that swim for a Certified Association. To be an eligible, a swimmer must be a member of the YMCA he/she represents for at least 90 days prior to this event and must have represented only that YMCA in any open competition that he/she participated in during the current season (i.e., September 1, 2017 through meet entry deadline). A swimmer may not represent more than one YMCA in competitive sports. A swimmer must have competed for the same team in three (3) YMCA inter-association meets held on separate dates during the current season. The age of a swimmer is determined by his/her age as of December 1, 2017.

 

 

Only certified associations are eligible to compete in this event. A certified association is a YMCA unit that:

1.  is certified by the National Board;

2.  holds an association, branch or unit number; and

3.  is eligible for separate listing in the YMCA Directory. A branch, department or center of a Metropolitan Association is considered an association for the purposes of this event.

Coach's Meeting: Saturday at 8:45 a.m. It is the responsibility and obligation of each team or unattached swimmer to be represented at all coach’s meetings. Coaches, or other team and swimmer representatives, are responsible for all information presented at these meetings being passed on to those from their team not in attendance.

Meet Format: All individual events and relays are Timed Finals.

Mandatory Volunteers: Each team is responsible for providing no fewer than one timer or one swim official to work the meet. The name(s) and volunteer position(s) being filled (i.e., timer or swim official) must be included on the entry summary sheet at the time of entry.

Individual Entry Limits: Swimmers may enter a maximum of three (3) individual events and two (2) relays.

Electronic Entries: $5.00 per individual event and $12.00 for relays. Please include a $1.00 per swimmer Michigan Swimming surcharge for each swimmer entered. Make checks payable to: BBD Boosters, Inc.

Paper Entries: MS rules regarding non-electronic entries apply. There is a $1.00 additional charge per individual event and $1.00 per relay event if the entry is not submitted in Hy-Tek format. $6.00 per individual event and $13.00 for relays. Michigan Swimming's $1.00 general surcharge for each swimmer also applies to paper entries.

 

 

 

Marshaling: There will be marshalling on deck at this meet for all individual events. Relay events will be self-marshaled. All events will be timed finals, pre-seeded slowest to fastest.

Meet Programs /Admissions: $5.00 per person. Children age 10 and younger are free. Meet programs will be available for $5.00.

Scoring: The following points will be awarded for the first twelve (12) places:

                 2018 YMCA State Championship trophy for team with most points overall.

                 2018 YMCA State Runner-Up for team with second most points overall.

Concessions: Food and beverages will be available for purchase. No food or beverage will be allowed on the deck of the pool, in the locker rooms or in the spectator areas. A hospitality area will be available for coaches and officials.

Swimming Safety: Michigan Swimming warm up rules will be followed. To protect all swimmers during warm-ups, swimmers are required to enter the pool feet first at all times except when sprint lanes have been designated. No jumping or diving. The same rules will apply with respect to the warm-down pool and diving well. Penalties for violating these rules will be in the sole discretion of the Meet Referee which may include ejection from the meet.

Swimmers with Disabilities: All swimmers are encouraged to participate. If any of your swimmers have special needs or requests, please indicate them on the entry form and with the Clerk of Course and/or the Meet Referee during warm ups.

First Aid: Supplies will be kept in the computer room.

Facility Items:

(A)     No smoking is allowed in the building or on the grounds of Lake Orion High School.

(B)     Pursuant to applicable Michigan law, no glass will be allowed on the deck of the pool or in the locker rooms.

(C)     No bare feet allowed outside of the pool area. Swimmers need to have shoes to go into the hallway to awards or concessions.

(D)    An Emergency Action Plan has been submitted by the Host Club to the Safety Chair and the Program Operations Chair of Michigan Swimming prior to sanction of this meet and is available for review and inspection from the Pool Director.

(E)     To comply with USA Swimming privacy and security policy, the use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.

(F)     Deck changing, in whole or in part, into or out of a swimsuit when wearing just one suit in an area other than a permanent or temporary locker room, bathroom, changing room or other space designated for changing purposes is prohibited.

(G)    Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials and/or spectators are present.
