Quick update, quick heads-up… (bonus points to Jay Coleman for eagle-eye)
#1: the final psych sheets are posted
these include the hiccups from folks over the weekend as well as the few late entries from new qualifiers... all edits/corrections should be done by now; but if you foresee anything coming, we would rather know sooner than later
#2: timelines are posted for all sessions…
the finals timelines lay out the awards breaks, please note, the awards from the last two events on Thursday evening (100 IM & 200 Fly) will be awarded 15 mins before the start of the Friday evening session (5:15pm)… Thursday evening was a long one, due to the number of events and award breaks, talked it over with some board members and our leadership officials and felt this was the best solution. Please communicate to your athletes, so they can plan.
we will be doing national championship procedures for warmups… We start with General warmup (no diving) with no assigned lanes, then will open sprint and pace lanes in the last hour of warmups (8am in prelims). The East pool (closer to the waterpark) will be open during all events (except the 1000/1650 – where we are running two courses). The East course will have a designated one-way sprint and pace lane at all times; if you have athletes arriving late, they’ll have plenty of room to prep.
#4: Thursday Scratch / Positive Check-In:
reminder, the scratch deadline for Thursday prelims is 6:30pm Wednesday… most/all of you will not be here in person, so it is done electronically. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, communicate with your athletes, and if you could let us know by 5:30pm on the positive check-ins, that would be a huge help. I plan on reaching out via phone to folks who we don’t hear from on check-ins before the deadline, but would really like to make a handful of calls at 5:30, and not 6:30 if possible. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, be proactive with your athletes and call/text/email me with any questions you might have… I’ll be here at the pool all day Wednesday (10a-10p) if in doubt, call me (832)233-0234 I’ll send another reminder Wednesday morning… but start working on it NOW. There are a number of athletes that entered more than 6 events, look at your entry reports, and if you have kids over-entered, we need to drop some events by scratching (make a plan now, so they get to pick what gets dropped, rather than us having to drop them from their last few events)
#5: Timers for Thursday Morning:
it’s always a challenge getting timers for morning sessions during the week, and we have a sign-up form on the website for folks to sign up, if they commit for Thursday or Friday prelims, we will get them an all-session pass for the weekend for helping out… all prelims sessions are done in under 4 hours (3.5 on Thursday including the 1000 – so especially reaching out to those parents of distance kids that will be here anyways)… again, thanks in advance.
