2018 SCST Speedo Spring Pentathlon

The SCST/Speedo Spring Pentathlon is the Ironman of Swimming Meets.

This is also the first Long Course Meet of the Spring/Summer Season. For those swimmers who will be competing Long Course for the first time it is just a little longer than 50 yards. Parents if you have questions please speak with your swimmers Coach before the start or after the end of the meet.

At the Spring Pentathlon 8 & Unders compete in a Quad-A-Thon (50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Breast and 50 Free). The Top 6 swimmers in the recognized age divisions (6 & U, 7 and 8 year olds) that complete all four races legally will be awarded. Swimmers 9 & Over compete in a Pentathlon (Fly Event, Back Event, Breast Event, Free Event and 200 IM), the Top 6 swimmers in the recognized age divisions (9,10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 & Over) that complete all five races legally will be awarded.

LOCATION: John B. Norris Rec. Center, 1050 Dunham Rd. St. Charles IL. 60174.

POOL: Indoor 6 lane 50 meter pool.  The pool has Kiefer lane lines and Paragon starting blocks and a Daktronics timing system with 6 lane time LCD display board.  Beep horn systems with strobes will be used.  The pool ranges in depth from 3.5 ft. deep to 12ft. deep at the starting end. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4).


  • SCST will be early for Warm Ups
  • SCST will sit as a Team, STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!

  • SCST will have less than 3% of our swims disqualified (DQ)

MEET SCHEDULE:               

Swimmers need to be at the pool 15 minutes prior to the start of Warm-Ups 

Saturday AM Session 1       

  • Warm-ups 7:00 AM

Saturday PM Session 2       

  • Warm-ups Immediately following Session 1, not before 12:00 PM
  • Start 1 hour after start of warm-ups, not before 1:00 PM

Sunday AM Session 3         

  • Warm-ups 7:00 AM
  • Start 8:00 AM

Sunday PM Session 4         

  • Warm-ups Immediately following Session 3, not before 12:00 PM
  • Start 1 hour after start of warm-ups, not before 1:00 PM


  • This is a Positive Check In Meet, Easch swimmer when entering the facility will need to Check In before the entrer the pool area for Warm Up.
  • Follow Meet signs on the day of the Meet (Parking, Meet Entrance, Positive Check-In, Locker Rooms).

ENTRY DEADLINE:   Entries will not be accepted before 8:00AM, Friday April 6, 2018.  We will accept entries until timeline capacity. 

SEEDING: Enter Swimmers at their fastest long course yard times to assure proper seeding.  Upgrading of a swimmers time will not be allowed after the entry deadline.  All events are timed finals.

ENTRY LIMITS: Swimmers 9 and older may enter a minimum of 4 events, but must be entered in all 5 to be eligible for awards.  8 and under swimmers may enter a minimum of 3 events but must be entered in all 4 50 Meter events to be eligible for awards. Every effort will be made to accommodate all swimmers, but any individual medley event may have heats limited to ensure compliance with timeline rules.  St. Charles reserves the right to swim their swimmers.   Refunds will be issued in limited events.  Deck Entries may be allowed at the Meet Referee’s discretion.

AWARDS: Awards will be given to the top 6 swimmers, with best cumulative times for each age categories: 7 & Under, 8 year old, 9 year old, 10 year old, 11 year old, 12 year old, 13 year old, 14 year old and Seniors.  10 & under, 11-12, and 13-14 will swim together but will be scored individually.  In order to qualify for the awards, the swimmer must be entered in all 5 events, except for 8 and unders, who must be entered in all 4 50 meter events.  Awards will be available at the end of the meet.  The host team will not be responsible for mailing awards. We request that coaches pick up award packets immediately after the meet.
