OKS State Championship results

KMSC information for parents & swimmers

OKS Short Course State Championships is the second of two championship meets in Oklahoma Swimming for the short-course season. All swimmers with qualifying times are expected to attend

Format:

This meet is a full, three-day, six-session championship meet, which includes prelims and finals, for swimmers 19 and under. Athletes may enter up to 3 individual events per day for a total of 8 events. All relays are swum in the morning sessions, except for 10 & under relays, which are swum during the evening sessions.

For many athletes, this is their first Prelims/Finals meet. At this meet, all athletes ages 11 and older will swim in prelims in the morning sessions. Then the top 8 swimmers per age group from each event will return in the evening Finals session to race again. In the 15-19 age group, the top 16 will return. Swimmers ages 10 & under will swim their events at night, during the Finals session. They only swim each race once.

The finalists are announced during the morning sessions, as soon as an event’s results have been finalized. It is the swimmer’s responsibility to determine if he/she has qualified for Finals. He/she may do so by checking the posted results at the Clerk of Course table (do NOT rely on Meet Mobile). If a swimmer is listed as a first or second alternate, the swimmer should return for Finals, warm up and be ready to race in the event another swimmer has scratched. If a swimmer is unable to swim in Finals, he/she must scratch at Clerk of Course within 30 minutes of the results being announced. Please see below for information on penalties assessed for missing events or not scratching an event.

POSITIVE CHECK-IN FOR DISTANCE EVENTS:

The 400 IM, 500 Free, 1000 Free and 1650 Free are positive check-in events. After check-in closes for the 400 IM and 500 free, the top 8 will be seeded to swim at night in the finals session. The rest of the swimmers will swim in prelims. Swimmers in the 1650 must declare their intent to swim in either prelims or finals. The top 8 must declare finals in order to swim in the Finals session. All 1000 free heats will swim in prelims, fastest to slowest alternating women and men heats. SCRATCH/CHECK-IN DEADLINE: For Friday's prelims, check-in/scratches must be made within 15 minutes of the close of Thursday's general meeting. For Saturday & Sunday, the deadline is 30 minutes after the start of the finals session on the preceding day.

NOTE: If you positive check-in for an event and then do not swim, you will be penalized according to OKS rules.
