(this is a team hosted event)
The YMCA Pacific Aquatic Club (YPAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Every year we award thousands of dollars in financial aid scholarships for our swim team participants. We also invest in new and improved equipment that benefits the swim team, such as lane lines, tents, and in the most recent year, an ice machine.
The Annual YPAC Swim-A-Thon provides thousands of dollars toward the swim team as well as other YMCA youth programs. Without this event, these programs and benefits would not be possible. Funds that we raise support the YPAC swim team in the form of financial aid scholarships, banquet cost for swimmers and other swim team related needs of those less fortunate.
Start early! Get the whole family involved. Parents are invited to swim as well. Tell your family’s friends, family, and co-workers in person, by phone, or by email that you are participating in a community fundraiser that makes it possible for youth to participate in competitive swimming who could not afford to otherwise.
Encourage your sponsors to make a per length pledge that will motivate you to swim! Most per length pledges range from $.25 per lap to $1. On average swimmers complete between 90-170 lengths per hour, so give your sponsors your estimate of how many lengths you think that you will complete.
Sponsors who do not wish to make a per length pledge can also pledge a flat amount for your swim.
Show up 15 minutes early on the day of your designated swim. Official counters will be present on the day of the event to tally the laps you swim. Good luck!
