2018 PCA Senior Group Team Training Trip
2018 PCA SENIOR GROUP TEAM TRAINING TRIP: Coach Ron is planning a Senior Group team training trip this summer for Senior Group swimmers only. Here is some preliminary information:
WHERE? On the island of Maui at a hotel or vacation rental in the Kahului or Wailuku area.
WHEN? From Friday afternoon, June 1, 2018 thru Monday evening June 4, 2018. The group will leave on an early afternoon flight on Friday and return to Honolulu on a late flight on Monday.
WHO? Coach Ron is organizing this trip for Senior Group swimmers who will be dedicated to intense training for 3 ½ days. There will be at least 2-3 registered USA Swimming parent chaperones to assist depending on the amount of swimmers. This trip is not for parents. It is only intended for swimmers serious about their training and dedicated to self-improvement.
WHAT? The training trip will consist of training in the mornings, afternoons and evenings at two swimming pool facilities in Wailuku & Kahului – Sakamoto Pool (LCM) and Kokua Pool (SCY). We will also be doing daily dryland. There will be at least 16 hours of training for the duration of the trip. We are also planning a day trip to Haleakala, escaping from breakout rooms, enjoying team building at Maui Golf and Adventure Park, hiking, scavenger hunt and beach activities. There will be daily instructional team meetings and a presentation led by Coach Ron to talk about specific training topics.
WHY? Coach Ron’s goal is to create an annual experience for the Senior Group swimmers to travel and train in a different setting in order to build a stronger group of competitive swimmers for Pearl City Aquatics. This trip will help guide swimmers to become better athletes, students and young adults, as well as to take ownership of their swim training. Swimmers will learn valuable lessons about responsibility, grit, leadership, dedication, and accountability. The trip is primarily intended to incorporate a considerable amount of training to set up a good base for the summer championship meets. There will also be activities for swimmers to promote team building and bonding, and to have fun with and learn from each other outside of the pool.
WHAT WILL THIS COST? It will depend on how many swimmers participate. Conservatively rough costs are estimated at approximately $750 per swimmer to include: airfare, ground transportation, housing, use of pool facilities, meals, snacks, activities, and supervised practice sessions. There will be an opportunity for a fundraiser for those who are attending this trip to help offset a portion of these costs. We are asking for a commitment and a non-refundable down payment of $350 per swimmer (approximately 50% of the cost) due by March 12, 2018 and a final payment of the balance will be due by April 30. Payments will be billed electronically through our Team Unify website.
HOW DO I RSVP? Please email Coach Ron at firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP to confirm that you would like to attend. If Coach Ron determines that this trip may not be appropriate for your swimmer due to the amount and intensity of training involved on the trip, he will inform you at that time. Commitments must be made no later than Monday, March 12, 2018.
