Red Cross Lifeguard Re-certification + CPR & First Aid
This course is the complete Red Cross Lifeguard Training including CPR and First Aid. Our experienced instructor will guide students through the necessary practical skills and will test their knowledge at the culmination of the course. Students who pass will be certified Lifeguards after completing the course. The course will be held at Crescent City Christian School (Behind the big gym where the pool is located), 4828 Utica Street, Metairie, LA. Please review the following information regarding the course:
- be at least 15 years old
- swim 500 yards continuously
- tread water for two minutes using legs only
- complete a timed swimming event
The course is a blended learning model. All participants must register for the course on the SLST website and complete web-learning components of the course prior to attending the on-site sessions. Participants must bring verification that they have completed all online coursework on the first day of class. The manual for the class is also found online at the American Red Cross website and is required material that must be brought to class.
Once you have registered for the course, you will receive an email with information on how to register for the online components through the American Red Cross.
FAQ and important information:
1) There is a mandatory online component of the course which must be completed before April 20, the day practical skills begin. This work takes on average 4-7 hours to complete and is blended learning portion. If this coursework is not completed the student may not participate in the second portion of the training starting April 20 and will NOT qualify for certification.
2.) The hours of the course will be:
Friday, April 20, 4-8 pm
Saturday, April 21, 9 am- 6 pm
Sunday, April 22, 9 am- 2 pm
*Note , there is some flexibility in course time as each individual varies as to how quickly and efficiently they recall the necesarry skills. The instructor may allow participants who are exceptionally capable to finish early once they have adequately demonstrated the necessary skills. This will be at the instructor's discretion and on an individual basis. In other words, the hours above are a guideline and some participants may finish quicker.

3.) Skills will be taught and reviewed both in and out of the water. Participants should come in their swim suits with a towel and change of clothes packed. Caps, goggles, etc. should also be brought if you use them. Participants are required to bring their own pocket mask to the course. However, you can elect to buy one through SLST. The cost is $10.00, please notify us upon registering if you would like to purchase one through us.
4.) No refunds are available if a participant does not pass the certification test. Our teacher is well experienced and skilled and will cover all of the information necessary to succeed. However, if you do not pass the test there are no refunds, no exceptions.
