Description

VPSC Speaker Series - Nutrition

We are very excited to announce that we have made a partnership with the Canadian Sport Institute - Pacific.

VPSC will be hosting a series of talks with Genevieve Masson, who is a Sports Dietician for CSI-Pacific.  We have asked Genevieve to not just provide Nutrtional information to the swimmers, but to also include the PARENTS so that we can have a positive influence on the nutritional needs for the athletes both at the pool and at home.

Throughout the remainder of the season, Genevieve will host talks to specific groups within the club so that they can be geared towards the age groups of the athletes within each group.  The schedule in the Events page will be updated as the dates for each of the talks are finalized.

This will be the second talk directed towards the junior aged swimmers in the program and will take place on Saturday, May 12th.  Our first talk gave everyone a baseline understanding of some nutrition knowledge, and this talk will be more specific towards ensuring that swimmers are refueling appropriately given their busy student/athlete lives.  The swimmers from all of the groups will train from 10:00-11:30 am at the UBC Aquatic Centre for the practice.  The swimmers will have their seminar prior to workout from 9:00-10:00am, while the Parents will have their seminar from 10:00-11:00am.  All talks will be held in the Classroom of the UBC Aquatic Centre.

All Junior Provincial, Junior Regional and Youth Regional Swimmers are welcome to attend the seminar for the swimmers.  Parents are asked to sign-up online.

Thanks for your support and we look forward to offering this enhanced programming that will enable our swimmers to become better all-around athletes and learn how they can be more productive in and out of the water.
