Please arrive at the pool by 7:45am. Promptly at 8:00am, we will start our informative Parent Meeting. Time trials will begin at 9:00am, unlike regular meets which begin at 7:00am. Please arrive no later than 7:45 so your swimmer(s) can check in, meet with the team coaches and get warmed up.
Please make sure to bring all of the necessary equipment such as goggles, swim cap, towel, sunscreen, water, warm clothing etc. (label everything and remind your child to keep all of their belongings in their pool bag when not in use!)
Time trials are important for getting both the swimmers and the parents "trained" and ready for the first real meet. The Ripples do not participate in Time Trials, however, a parent should attend the meeting in the morning. Many of our Ripples will graduate and move up to the Waves during the season.
This is a WAVES only meet and is very low key. We want the children (and parents!!) to be relaxed and to have fun. Some concession items will be sold. Place ribbons and heat ribbons are not awarded at Time Trials. The swimmers will be timed to get unofficial times for their events so the coaches will know how to place them in future meets.
Since time trials is a practice meet, it is really important for parents to practice too! All jobs are easy to learn, so do not be afraid to try and help out. Mistakes will be made and this is OK--all jobs have some form of backup or cross check. For parents who have been on the team in the past, please try something new. Every job at a home meet is located in a place where you will be able to see your child swim. In order to run a home meet, we need 1 parent from EVERY family to volunteer for one shift. This is not optional.
Time trials usually last approx. 3 hours. At the finish, please help to break down the equipment and help set the deck back up for the regular opening time of the facility.
