Description

Age groups will be based on age on the first day of the competition.

Qualifying Standards: Meet Entry standard 200 IM = UNDER 4:00

Distance Event Entry - in the swimmer’s respective BC Provincial age group

  • For the 400 Free, a 2016-17 Swim BC ‘A’ standard in a 200 or 400 Free
  • For the 800 – 1500 Free, a 2016-17 Swim BC ‘A’ standard in a 400, 800 or 1500 Free
  • For the 400 IM, a 2016-17 Swim BC ‘A’ standard in a 200 or 400 IM
  • To swim distance events, 10&under swimmers must achieve the BC Provincial 11&under 2016-17 `A’ standard in the respective events.

TIMELINES

There are a total of 380 swimmers entered from 16 swim teams. The meet will be blocked, as per the meet information.

Please note that the 12 & Overs will be swimming in the morning sessions, and 11 & Unders in the afternoon.  

Unfortunately, due to the size of the competition, we will not be able to run the distance session (800 & 1500 free) on Saturday. Warm-up will be split into two 20-minute blocks.  Teams will be advised of their warm-up block after the scratch deadline.

The timeline follows:

 

Saturday morning session (12 & Over)

- 8:00am the building opens

- 8:30-8:50am warm-up block #1

- 8:50-9:10am warm-up block #2

- 9:15am session start

- 1:45pm (approximate) session concludes

 

Saturday afternoon session (11 & Under)

- 2:00-2:20pm warm-up block #1

- 2:20-2:40pm warm-up block #2

- 2:45pm session start

- 6:05pm (approximate) session concludes

 

Sunday morning session (12 & Over)

- 8:00am the building opens

- 8:30-8:50am warm-up block #1

- 8:50-9:10am warm-up block #2

- 9:15am session start

- 1:00pm (approximate) session concludes

 

Sunday afternoon session (11 & Under)

- 1:10-1:30pm warm-up block #1

- 1:30-1:50pm warm-up block #2

- 1:55pm session start

- 5:10pm (approximate) session concludes

 

A couple of last-minute details …

Food on Deck

SFU pool’s policy is that swimmers are not permitted to bring food onto the pool deck. Please remind your swimmers that they need to leave the pool deck when they want to eat over the course of the meet.  Thank you.
