2nd Annual Wahoos Canoe Trip
Join the Wahoos on a trip down the Little Miami this summer on our 2nd Annual Wahoos Canoe Trip! We had a BLAST last year and cannot wait for more Wahoos to join us this year!
We will be heading to the Fort Ancient Morgan's Canoe Livery on Wednesday, 6/27. You should be able to declare "YES/NO" for this event similar to declaring for a meet. Make sure to declare Yes or No by Wednesday, June 20th!
2nd Annual Wahoos Canoe Trip Information
Who: All currently registered Wahoos and their families are invited! (Any children 10 and under must have a parent in attendance. Mimimum age of 3)
What: We are set up to do a 12 mile trip. However, if the 12 mile course is not available, we will do a 9 mile trip like we did last year. We will stop to eat lunch around the halfway point. The total trip time should be between 3-5 hours (more than likely it will be closer to the 3 hour estimation, we did the 9 mile course pretty quickly last year!).
Where: Morgan’s Fort Ancient Canoe
Livery - Little Miami River
5701 State Route 350
Oregonia, Ohio 45054
When: Please arrive no later than 9:40 am on Wednesday, June 27th. There is a shuttle that will need to take all of us to the starting point so we must arrive by 9:40am so that payments can be made and waivers can be turned in prior to departure. We should be finishing up between 1pm and 3pm. Morgans will have a shuttle that takes everyone back to the Fort Ancient location when we are finished.
How: You can declare your swimmer as a Yes or No through the team website, just like you would for a meet. If you are planning on having anyone else attend, let us know in the comments/notes section. Hurry though, the deadline to declare is Wednesday, June 20th!
Cost: The canoes are being reserved for us at $33/canoe. After we have confirmed the number of people going, we will do our best to assign 3 people per canoe to help bring the cost down to $11 per person. Payments for the canoes will be due at Morgans before we depart. Our suggestion would be to send your swimmer with $20 cash broken out as a ten, a five, and five ones so that no one over/under pays.
Lunch: We will stop around the halfway point to eat lunch. We recommend that anyone attending pack their lunch and snacks in a cooler. It is suggested that you coordinate with those in your canoe so that we don't bring more coolers than necessary!
Bring: Signed waivers (available as a pdf download from this webpage - no one under 17 will be allowed to go if they do not have a waiver signed by their parents/guardians to turn in the day of the trip!), cash for canoe payment, lunch/snacks/drinks, a waterproof pouch to protect any valuables, water shoes/sandals (there may be times when we need to walk along the shore or in the river, tennis shoes might be too much and flip-flops probably won't cut it!), sunglasses, sun screen, change of clothes (for the ride home if you don't want to go home all wet!)
