Canoe Outing - National & Blue Groups

WHO:  ALL NATIONAL, BLUE 1, BLUE 2 & BLUE MARLIN swimmers (from all locations);  Any/All Marlin Coaches; Any parents of NATIONAL, BLUE 1, BLUE 2 & BLUE MARLIN swimmers.

WHAT:  Canoe and Kayak Trip on the Whitewater River

You will have the option of renting a canoe or a kayak.  Kayaks are single person.  Canoe includes 2 paddles, up to 3 in a canoe.  Some people switch between canoe and kayak while working their way down the river.  If you have a partner you will be sharing a canoe with, please put a note on your waiver form!

 

 

TRIP - 8 MILES /  Day Trip

 

This is our most popular trip. Depending on river conditions, expect to leisurely float down the river for 2.5 to 3.5 hours. There are numerous beaches and The Big Island to stop and relax or to socialize with friends.

 

WHEN:  Monday June 25th (the day after the Marlin TYR MEET) - meet 10:15, trip starts 10:30 am.  We will meet at Green Acres.  If you are being dropped off, plan on about 2.5 to 3.5 hours before needing to be picked up.

NOTE:  There will be a morning practice from 7:30-9am at Central for all National, Blue 1 and Blue 2 swimmers with no PM workout.  Blue Marlin season is complete at this point.

WHERE:  Green Acres Canoe Rental.  10465 Suspension Bridge Rd, Harrison, Ohio 45030

COST:  $25.00 per person

Waiver forms and Payment (cash only) must be given to COACH RYAN (or Brad) by Sunday June 24th.  You can give the completed waiver form and money to coach Ryan (Brad) at the Marlin Meet, or leave in the Central office mailbox in an envelope labeled CANOE TRIP.  Any swimmer under the age of 18 must have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.  Waiver forms are attached.

WHAT YOU NEED:  Suntan lotion, drinks (small cooler that will fit comfortably in the canoe), snacks or lunch, sunning suit, shoes you do not mind getting river wet, towel, water proof cameras, and a way to water proof your phones in case your canoe accidently goes over.

From Downtown Cincinnati - 15 minutes:

Merge onto 74 W / US - 52 W via EXIT 4 towards

Indianapolis;

Merge onto I-275 S via EXIT 5 toward Kentucky

(Do NOT continue on 74 towards

Indianapolis); Take the Kilby Road exit -

EXIT # 21;

Right onto Kilby Road;

At light, turn right onto Suspension Bridge

Road;

1/2 mile on left.

 

From Northern Kentucky - 10 minutes:

I-275 W via toward Lawrenceburg, Indiana;

Go approximately 2 miles to the first exit in

Ohio - EXIT # 21 Kilby Road;

Turn right onto Kilby;

At light, turn right onto Suspension Bridge;

1/2 mile on left.
