In granting this sanction it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free and held harmless from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event. It is further understood that Georgia Swimming Inc., Columbus Aquatic Club, The Columbus Aquatic Center and The City of Columbus, Inc. shall be free and held harmless from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event.

Columbus Aquatic Center is an indoor, 10 lane 50-meter by 25-yard facility. Bleacher seating for 900+ spectators and ample parking is available. Daktronics timing system with full scoreboard will be used. 

The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C. The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming and with Georgia Swimming.

The depth of the water at the start end of the pool is 13.8 feet and at the turn end is 5 feet.

 

 

 

$6.00 Individual Events Plus the  CWGA Surcharge fee.

12&O Athletes are limited to 4 events per day

10&U Athletes are limited to 6 events per day

No swimmer will be allowed to compete unless the swimmer is a member as provided in Article 302.

COLUMBUS AQUATIC CLUB

 

The current USA Swimming and Rules and Regulations will govern the conduct of the meet unless noted otherwise herein. All Swimmers, Coaches and Officials must be currently registered with USA swimming.  Swimmers are responsible for swimming in assigned heat and lanes.  Dive –over starts may be utilized at the discretion of meet management and the Meet Referee. All coaches must present their current USA-S credentials (Card or Deck Pass) when checking in. Any coach not having current credentials will be barred from the pool deck. No exceptions will be made.  Deck Pass is acceptable proof of USA Swimming membership

 

A brief coaches meeting will be held on Saturday morning at 9:45AM at the clerk of course table. 

 

Any swimmer entered in the meet, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a race start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.

 

Swimmers will be responsible for swimming in their assigned heats and lanes.

 

The Meet Referee may elect to change and/or combine heats, determine the need to do dive-over starts, and determine the need to use two pools during competition.  Every reasonable effort will be made to notify teams of any changes.

 

Photos and videos may be taken of swimmers during the meet by parents or a professional photographer retained by the host club. All participants agree to be filmed or photographed by photographers designated by the meet host and to allow the meet host the right to use names, pictures, likenesses, and biographical information before, during, or after the period of participation in Georgia Swimming competitions to promote swimming and meets hosted by the meet organizer. If you do not wish to have your child(ren) photographed, you may withdraw your consent by informing the Meet Director before the start of the first day of the meet.  

 

Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.

 

DECK CHANGES are prohibited. – (Changing, in whole or in part, into or out of a swimsuit when wearing just one suit in an area other than a permanent or temporary locker room, bathroom, changing room or other space designated for changing purposes) Swimmers participating in deck changing could be subject to removal from further competition in the meet.

 

Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coaches’ areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials and / or spectators are present. Exceptions may be granted with prior written approval by the Vice President of Program Operations.

 

Subject to space availability, and at the discretion of the Meet Director, deck entries will be accepted on the day of the meet, prior to the start of each session, at a cost of $12 per event. To enter please see the Meet Entry Coordinator before warm-ups.

 

Deck Entries will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the meet.

 

Any changes or entries received after the entry deadline of Sunday, July 1, 2018 will be charged on a late entry basis.  Late entry fees will be doubled and late entries will be seeded with no time (NT).  

 

Deck entry swimmers who are not already in the meet are required to show proof of current USA Swimming Athlete Membership. Only (3) three forms of membership proof are acceptable: 

 

  1. A current USA Swimming Membership Card
  2. A printed USA Swimming Club Roster
  3. Verification through the use of “DECK PASS.” Deck Pass is acceptable proof of USA Swimming Membership. 

 

Deck entry fees must be paid prior to the closing of the Administrator Officials desk. No USA Swimming registration will be done at this meet.

 

  • The Meet Director reserves the right to limit entries, events, or heats in order to conform to GA/USA Swimming rules. 
  • Entries must be submitted electronically in a format compatible with Hy-Tek meet management software.
  • All entries should be submitted via email, subject [Your Team Name] – 2018 Hurricane Champs. Please include the following information in the body of the email: Meet Name, Team Name, and Person’s Contact Information.
  • Electronic entry Files [TM/TU] are required for all entries.
  • Coaches should submit swimmers best long course times for seeding.
  • A copy of all entries will be send to Georgia Registration Chairperson by the host club. 
  • The Georgia Registration Chairperson is: Lora Thompson, registrar@gaswim.org
  • Out-of-state swimmers should be prepared to submit proof of current USA Swimming Membership. 
  • Emailed entry files, individual request for athletes/events removal or additions received after the deadline may not be processed. All scratch and late entries after the deadline must be presented to the clerk of course at the meet. 
  • Before any athlete may participate in this meet, CAC must receive a check and a signed waiver form from an official representative of that athlete’s team. You may either mail this or bring it to the meet with you.

 

 

Positive check-in will be required for the 400 Free, 400 IM, 800 Free, and 1500 Free. 

All events will be pre-seeded with exception of the 400IM, 400FR, 800 Free & 1500 Free which will be Deck Seeded events. Positive check-in is required for all deck seeded events 30 minutes prior to start of the session in which that particular event is scheduled. Swimmers participating in the 800 Free & 1500 Free need to supply a lap counter.  

 

Programs will be available for purchase to spectators. 

Awards will be given to the high point winner male/female in each respective age group (8&U, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15&O) 

This meet shall be scored according to the USA Swimming 2016 Rules and Regulations.

Unofficial  results will be posted to Meet Mobile as quickly as possible throughout the meet. 

 

Results will also be posted in specific areas around the aquatic center. 

 

At the completion of the meet, results will be emailed out to respective coaches (MM backup, TM Results, & PDF, as well as team scores and high-point winners).  

 

Results will also be posted on the Columbus Aquatic Club website www.swimhurricanes.com under “Meet | Event” “Hosted Meets.” 

In order for a swimmer to be entered in the 400 IM, 400 Free, 800 Free & 1500 Free they must positively check in at the clerk of course 30 minutes prior to the start of the session.

The 12 & under, 13 & Over and Open events will be swum as a Preliminary/Final.  Prelims will be circle seeded.  

 

The 10 & under events will be swum as Timed Finals.  All 10 & under events will be seeded slow to fast.

 

The 400-IM, 400-Free, 800-Free, and 1500-Free will be conducted as timed final events and swum fastest to slowest.

 

Friday Evening: 

The 800-Free and 1500-Free will alternate Women & Men as follows. 1 st  Heat of Women’s 800-Free followed by the 1 st  Heat of Men’s 1500-Free

 

Saturday Afternoon: 

The 400-Free will alternate women & men as follows, fastest heat of women’s 400-Free followed by fastest heat of men’s 400-Free. 

 

12&U event Finals: 

The top 10 swimmers from the preliminary session will swim in a 1 heat (10 swimmer) final. 

 

13&O and Open event Finals:

A, B, C (Top 30) Finals for 50’s and 100’s, 200 Free and 200 IM 

A and B (Top 20) Finals for 200’s of stroke (200 Fly, 200 Back, 200 Breast) 

 

The finals heats will be swum in the following order: C, B, A  

USA Swimming and Georgia Swimming Safety Guidelines and Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect for the entire meet. Entry into the pool shall be from the ends, not the sides, and shall be feet first except in designated start/sprint lanes. 

 

Warm-Up sessions may be divided into periods of equal length depending on the number of swimmers entered into each session. 

 

Warm-Up schedules will be emailed out to coaches prior to the start of the meet. 

 

Warm-up information will also be posted on the scoreboard before each session. 

 

Sprint/Start lanes will be available at the end of the warm-up period. No diving or backstroke starts will be permitted, except in sprint lanes, when designated.

 

The referee may remove anyone from the warm-up for failure to comply with warm-up rules. 

ONLY currently credentialed coaches, athletes and essential meet personal will be permitted on deck. 

Meet Marshalls have full authority through the Meet Referee & Safety Director for safety and good order throughout the venue at all times. Swimmers, coaches and spectators may be removed from the deck/venue for non-compliance with procedures or non-cooperation with Marshals’ instructions.

In the event that a swimmer in unaccompanied by a certified USA Swimming Coach, please have the swimmer report to the clerk of course where they will be assigned and directed to sit with the host team who will assist the swimmer throughout the meet. 

Swimmers with a disability are welcome to enter this meet. The coach or team entry person must alert the meet director and the meet referee as to the need for any special accommodations or seeding arrangements at the time the entry is submitted.

A meet jury will adjudicate any protests including issues of conduct, which may occur in the meet venue. All protests must be in writing to the Meet/Deck Referee. The Meet Jury will consist of the Meet Director, an Athlete and a Coach. Additional members including an official may be added for a jury of five. The Meet Referee will act as a mediator.
