WHAT: Gulf Senior Champs hosted by NOCH & SHARKS
WHEN: July 20-22nd 2018
WHERE: Meet will be held at the University of Houston Recreation Center - 4500 Univerisity Drive, Houston TX 77004. Parking is never free at U of H. YOu may park in the garages across from the Rec Center and must pay for parking with credit card only.
WHO: Meet is open to swimmers with at least three (3) or more 15-16 AA time standards achieved. Swimmers may then swim any event. Swimmers may enter events with no time (NT). Times must be achieved from July 1, 2016 and entry due date.
NOTE: ALL swimmers must have signed waiver (attached to email notification) and all adults who will be on deck in ANY capacity MUST have completed the ePOI forms and training attached to the notification email at least a week prior to the meet. Any coaches, officials, timers, and any other volunteers must complete this online training. Certification is good for a year. Those who completed the training for the KATY Sr Meet do not have to retake the online testing. ALL forms are posted on the GULF Swimming website - gulfswimming.org. There will be a check in table and wristbands will need to be worn on deck for the entirety of the meet.
MEET SCHEDULE: This is a six session, 3 day indoor meet with prelim/finals each day. Relays and the 1500 FR will be timed finals. Finals will consist of A,B,C and D final heats. All relays will swim in finals.
Session #1: Friday AM prelims for swimmers 13 & Over. Warmup will start at 7am and meet will start at 8:30am.
Session #2: Friday Finals for swimmers aged 13 & Over. Warmup will begin at 4:30pm with a 5:30pm meet start.
Session #3: Saturday AM prelims for swimmers aged 13 & Over. Warmup will start at 7am and meet will start at 8:30am.
Session #4: Saturday Finals for swimmers aged 13 & Over. Warmup will begin at 4:30pm with a 5:30pm meet start.
Session #5: Sunday AM prelims for swimmers aged 13 & Over. Warmup will start at 7am and meet will start at 8:30am.
Session #6: Sunday Finals for swimmers aged 13 & Over. Warmup will begin at 4:30pm with a 5:30pm meet start.
MORE INFO: Meet will be deck seeded. Swimmers must circle in for all events each day in the rotunda before passing through the checkpoint at the Rec Center at least :45 minutes prior to the start of each prelims session.
400 FR / 400 IM / 1500 FR will be swum as timed finals events. At check in, the fastest 8 swimmers both girls and boys who do NOT elect to swim in prelims, will swim in finals sessions day of event. All other heats will be swum in prelims running all girl heats and then all boy heats. Swimmers must provide their own timers during the prelim session heats and also for finals.
100/200 meter events will be run utilizing chase starts and odd/even heats. All girls' heats will be swum first followed by the boys' heats using both ends of the pool. Odd heats will start at the diving well end of the pool and even heats will start at the lobby end of the pool. All prelims events will be swum fastest to slowest. All 50m events will start from the diving well end of the pool. All prelim events 400m and longer will be swum alternating girls and then boys heats. Girls heats will start at the diving well end of the pool and boys heats will start at the lobby end. All finals events will start at the diving well end of the pool.
Swimmers may enter up to three (3) events per day at this meet with a 7 event individual total. Swimmers who enter more than three (3) events per day must circle in the 3 events to be swum at least :45 min prior to the start of the prelims sessions. Entries are $13 per event and there is a $10 per swimmer surcharge which includes access to free electronic heat sheets.
FINALS: The list of finals swimmers will be announced after the prelim event completion. Swimmers will have :30 minutes to scratch from finals or face possible suspension from the remainder of the meet and a fine of $50. Finals will be set after the :30 minute scratch window and the finalists and 2 alternates will be named. The USA Swimming National Championship Meet "reserve the right to scratch" rule is not applicable to any Gulf Swimming meet. The "intent to scratch" rule is not applicable to any Gulf Swimming meet.
DEADLINE TO UNCOMMIT / REVIEW EVENTS: Swimmers will have until Monday 7/2 to uncommit from this meet. At that time, coaches will build events and swimmers will haveuntil 6pm on Thursday 7/5 to review events. Please send any questions about entries via email to your group coach. At the close of the review, the meet file will be built and sent to the host team and all swimmers entered will be billed, regardless of actual meet attendance.
