There is a minimum skill level required.  Each swimmer must meet the criteria of being able to swim all 4 strokes and have some prior swim team experience, unless swimmer has prior approval from Coach Ethan.

 8 & under

Swimmers must be proficient in all four strokes and have some prior swim team experience. They must demonstrate the ability to complete 45 minute practices usually between 500 and 1000 yards without issue. The focus of these practices will be working on technique and all key swimming skills in slow paced, systematic fashion. The goal is to solidify technique before they graduate on to longer, faster paced practices. 95% teaching, 5% training

9-11

All swimmers should be legal in all 4 strokes and have a basic grasp of starts and turns. Swimmers in this group must be able to safely complete one hour practice usually consisting of 2,000 -2,500 yards. The focus of the practice will be stroke construction and maintenance, basic endurance, and race preparation. The goal is to instill excellent technique and good training habits as a foundation for a bright future in swimming. 75% teaching, 25% training

12 - up

The swimmers' ages will range from 12 years old to 18 years old. All swimmers should be legal in all 4 strokes and demonstrate a strong knowledge of swimming skills and practice norms. As an injury precaution, swimmers must maintain proper technique through the course of a 1.5 hour practice (3,000-3,500 yards). The focus of these practice will technique refinement and maintenance, endurance, strength, and race preparation. The goal of this group is to learn how to take training to a new level without losing focus on proper technique development. 50% teaching, 50% training

Parent Volunteer Requirements / Officials Needed:

In order for us to offer a successful program, we require all families to help out at meets and events throughout the fall.

A family representative must be available to time 1-2 shifts at all meets their swimmer attends. Our Volunteer Coordinator will post timing slots a few days prior to each meet for families to sign-up.

We will also need all families to work at our meet in November.  Job descriptions and assignments will be made available closer to the meet.

Any parent willing to participate in the free training to become a USA Swimming Official will be guaranteed a spot in Sharks Fall Swimming for all of their swimmers (they must be a Crow Canyon member). Your swimmers are able to swim in USA Swim meets because we are affiliated with a year round USA swim team.   Each team is required to provide a number of officials based on their swimmer entries. *If we have 50-75 Sharks swimmers (fall and year round), we need to provide 3 officials. We will be conducting a brief training in August, followed by on deck training at our first Fall meet, hosted by the Sharks in November.

NOTE: If you choose to be trained as USA Swimming official, you will be given a $50 discount.

USA Swim Registration:

Participation in fall swim meets is optional, but strongly encouraged.  It is a great opportunity to try out new events and distances.

In addition to program Registration Fees, swimmer's attending meets this fall must register with USA Swimming / Pacific Swimming.  Seasonal Registration Forms will be available early in August.
