Ryan Downing Memorial Swim Meet

The Ryan Downing Memorial Swim Meet is the first competitive event of the season. We hope to host teams from Haines, Alaska, BC, and the NWT.

Travel to Whitehorse using Air North code: TBA

Location: Whitehorse - Lions Aquatic Centre, Canada Games Centre

The Ryan Downing Invitational Memorial Swim Meet is open to all Whitehorse Glacier Bears => Cubs through to Silvertips & Teen (except for the Teddy Bear squads).

This is an annual event held in honour of Ryan Downing who was a Whitehorse Glacier Bear for many years. His favourite event was the 200IM. Ryan's parents regularly attend this meet and enjoy seeing today's Glacier Bears in action.

This is a "Best Time meet" and therefore ribbons are awarded for all personal best swims.

Parents, your jobs are:

1. Please confirm on-line IF your swimmer is participating or decline him/her as not participating in this event by the Posted DEADLINE Date of Oct. 15th.  This is a very important step so the meet managers and coaches know if your swimmer is participating or not. Coaches will enter the swimmers into their events.

2. Sign up to volunteer on the job sign up. The meet cannot and will not run without sufficient parental support.

3. Read the meet package (To be posted when sanction acquired) so you are aware of all the information.

4. After coaches have entered swimmers into events, know the events your swimmer is participating in.

Thank you from your meet managers

NOTE:** The officiating commitment for Junior Swim Groups (Cubs, Brown, Black & Teen squads) is to fulfill the following jobs for all club events:

safety marshal, timing, set-up, take- down, clothing sales, on deck Cub helpers, referee runner, ribbons/heat winner ribbons, and volunteer check-in.

*Certified means course completion plus two independent successful deck jobs completed and signed off by a referee.
