Email Update from IFLY (10/22/2018):

Hello Coaches,

Attached, please find the psych sheet for the Speedo Midwest Challenge this weekend. Please review and notify me of any changes by tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.

Please note that the 400 IM has a total of 119 athletes, and the 1650 has a total of 61 athletes.  Therefore, we are under our total number of entrants (128 and 64, respectively) for those limits entry events. All of the athletes listed in the psych sheet will have the opportunity to compete in those two races on Friday evening.

The estimated timelines for each session will be posted tomorrow at the latest.  Please let me know if you have any questions, and travel safely to Iowa City!

Thank you,

Email Update from IFLY (10/16/2018):

Hello all,

The Speedo Midwest Challenge is rapidly approaching, and we’re excited to host next weekend!  Here are a few updates about the competition:

1.        From Meet Referee Jeff Wilkins

Please be aware that during the 200 FR and 500 FR preliminary sessions we will be using two tanks for each event.  Odd heats for the event will be swam in the diving well end (south pool) and even events will be swam in the scoreboard end (north pool)  The two tanks are equivalent from a competition standpoint and finals will be swam in the south pool.  On Friday evening (400 IM and 1650 FR) the pools will be separated by gender with the men in the south pool and women in the north pool.  This information will be covered in both coaches meeting but I wanted everyone to be prepared for the changing format from Friday night to Sat/Sun morning sessions.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

2.        Warmup Schedule:

Attached, you will find the warmup schedule for each session.

3.        Entry/Updated File Deadline:

All electronic entries and updated files must be received no later than 9:00 AM CST on Monday, October 22.

4.        Limited Entry Events:

A preliminary psych sheet will be posted and sent on Monday, October 22. If you have an athlete that is not seeded in top 64 of each gender in the 400 IM or the top 32 for each gender in the 1650, that athlete may substitute it with another event if their session entry limit is not exceeded. These requests must be made no later than 12:00 PM CST on Wednesday, October 24.

5.        Parking in Lot 11 (Corner of Madison & Court Streets):

Attached, you will find instructions for the new parking procedures for Lot 11.  Attendees using this lot will now pay upon exiting the parking facility, and may use any of the four gates to exit.  Due to this change, there will now be an hourly rate for parking rather than the $5.00 prepay per entry that has been used in the past.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

This meet is for any QUALIFIED HSC Swimmers that are in 8th Grade or above!!!  This is the High School Boys Fall Travel meet, meaning all QUALIFIED High School Boys will board a bus and travel WITH THE TEAM.  This is intended to be a good simulation of a college meet so our kids can get some experience prior to their future swimming endeavors.

Any 8th graders and high school girls that are qualified and would like to attend ARE ALLOWED TO BUT THEY MUST BE ESCORTED BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN.  The intent is to make this meet special for the high school boys and start a tradition at HSC of travel meets.  The high school girls will get their chance for this with the Circle City Classic at the end of January.

This is a "COMMIT BY EVENT" Registration meet for HSC.  This means that the entry is open such that the swimmer can pick which events they would like to swim.  We often do this for Qualifying times meets so swimmers can know if they are qualified in an event or not.  Of course, the Coaching Staff will review all of these entries and has final discretion in the entries.  Please consider rest intervals when signing your swimmers up for events.

All of the required Travel Forms are posted on this page.  Please turn those into the Coaching Staff by Friday, September 28 with deposit.
