About Swim Team Boosters

Creating a positive environment where excellence is inevitable is only possible with the dedicated efforts of all MAC Swim Team parents. Your child is swimming with one of the best teams in the State of Oregon, and part of that success is due to the parent volunteers. Parent support and involvement is vital to the success of our team. If you are a parent of a MAC competitive swimmer, a former swimmer, or friend of MAC swimming, you are a Booster!!

We have several Booster sponsored events, such as a team BBQ, an inter-squad Red and White meet, an Awards Banquet, and much more! Our treasury is funded by annual assessments and fundraisers. Our main fundraisers are working two Portland Marathon water stations, and running swim meets. The funds raised play a vital role in enhancing the experience of our swimmers.  They support various incentive rewards, like fun meets, team dinners, banquet gifts, etc.  The funds also help offset chaperone costs, pay for our officials registrations, and purchase team gear and equipment that may be needed to run meets. The booster president and treasurer work with the coaching staff to develop an annual budget.

Volunteer Jobs

All parents of a MAC competitive swimmer are expected to volunteer in some capacity. We have a lot of ways to get involved, something for everyone! Click on the Job Sign up link to see a list of job descriptions for various jobs. President and Treasurer are two year positions, while all others are one year positions, with an option to continue. We will be implementing MANDATORY hours this year.  All families are required to volunteer for 20 hours. All other swim teams in our area require volunteer hours, and in order to provide the best experience for our swimmers and team, we will be doing the same. Volunteering together builds community within our team. There will be a form to sign at the beginning of the season. There are many ways to earn volunteer hours, such as helping at the marathon, working one or more of the many positions at our home swim meets, timing at away meets or working as an official.  There are also some jobs that are a bigger time commitment.  If you choose one of those jobs, your hours will automatically be fulfilled. If you are interested in one of these jobs, sign up for one NOW:) Just click on the Job Signup link.  If you feel you are unable to fulfill your hours, please talk to our Booster President, Bob Westlake.  He will help you find a job that works for you!  If a famiy does not meet the 20 hour requirement, an additional booster assessment may be levied.
