Swim families from the Senior group are hosting the Spooky Woods and Trunk or Treat Halloween event. Each year, this event is a very important part of the Y's community-wide Halloween and food pantry collection. This annual event is free to all families in the community. There are games, prizes, good old-fashion fall fun and of course the woods near the new playground are transformed to become the infamous “Spooky Woods”. Manta Ray guides lead children through the woods and tell the age old story of Spooky Woods.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED: Parents and swimmers for a range of activities related to the event. Some are in the afternoon before the actual event. Please see Job Signups, find an opportunity to help out. Each job is very important and we would love to see as much participation as possible. Please note we ask that volunteers be 11 years old or older.
We need 100 Jack-O-Lanterns! We had great success lighting the path in dark woods with these decorated jugs and glow sticks. It took close to 100 lanterns last year to safely illuminate the path. We cannot do it with you! We need your help to collect 100 semi-opaque bottles- they can be quart or gallow size (or bigger)- milk, water, apple cider jugs are all good sources. Have your swimmer decorate and deliver to Coach Trevor's office the week before the event. Please start collecting now! Also we need 6 in, 15mm glowticks needed for lanterns. The thinner kind used for bracelets and necklaces don't give off enough light.
