Winter Clinics - Session 3

Feb 15, 2019 (04:00 AM) - May 19, 2019 (10:30 PM)
March, 6 2019

The Sharks are pleased to continue to provide a year-round practice opportunity to our current and future Sharks! The clinics are held at The Waverly Club located at 15401 Fog Mountain Circle, Haymarket. (Swimmer families must reside in Dominion Valley and be an HOA member to participate.)

BIG NEWS!!! We've decided to lower the price to $90. That's 8 weeks of lessons for $11.25 per class. You can't beat that price!

Additional BIG NEWS!!! We hope to finish this session of clinics with a swim meet at Central Park Aquatic Center hosted by Occoquan Swimming. While the details have not been finalized, this is a great opportunity to race before the summer begins.

The structure will be very similar to last session, but we are going to make some changes to the substance and organization of what is taught. By having a little more set plan for each week, hopefully the kids will maximize their time in the pool. We will have similar practice each time, but they will get progressively more difficult and technically challenging. The goal is for the repetition to provide the opportunity for development and retention of the skills they learn. The practice times are split by age and/or ability. The three practice groups are:

·         Tadpoles: This practice group is designed for newer swimmers who can complete one length of the pool independently but need extensive stroke development. Practices are 45 minutes which will give them a good workout while not exhausting them to the point where their technique digresses.

·         Minnows: This group is designed for swimmers who can comfortably swim two lengths of the pool but are not legal in all four strokes. The focus will be on stroke development and refinement. Practices are 45 minutes, and will be evenly split between skill work and basic training.

·         Sharks: This group is for swimmers who are legal in all four strokes and are interested in enhancing their skill level and technique. Practices are 1 hour, with 30 minutes devoted to skill work and 30 minutes focused on more advanced training and racing.

Each practice will address all of the aspects of the stroke including: head and body position; kicking that is coordinated with body position; ideal arm stroke; timing of the pull and kick; and breathing.

Clinic 3 is: March 16 - May 19; (off on April 13th and 14th and April 20 & 21 due to PWCS Spring Break)

The times will be the same for both Saturday and Sunday

Tadpoles:              10:30 - 11:15 am (Group 1)

                              11:15 am - 12:00 pm (Group 2)

Minnows:               10:30 - 11:15 am (Group 1)

                              11:15 am - 12:00 pm (Group 2)

Sharks:                  12:00 – 1:00pm

Since we only have two lanes to use, space is very limited; we plan to keep the numbers manageable with a max of 6 swimmers per lane. Two coaches will be in attendance to work with the group of up to 12 kids at one time.

Sorry, no discounts for multiple swimmers or multiple clinics

Swimming once a week (either Saturday or Sunday): $90
