AMS, in partnership with USA Swimming, is pleased to present the 2019 Swimposium, being held on Saturday, September 21st at Mt. Lebanon High School athletic complex. This is a tremendous opportunity for club leaders, athletes, swim parents and Officials. We’ve have a terrific group of speakers and know you and your clubs will greatly benefit from the Swimposium. AMS HOUSE OF DELEGATES MEETING 
8:00 AM  -  10:00 AM

This is the semi-annual AMS House of Delegates Meeting.  All clubs are encouraged to send their representatives.  Clubs sending an Athlete, Coach and Board Member to the HOD meeting will receive a $150 discount on the annual club dues.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the Agenda and Documents for consideration. 

Lucy & Dick Duncan - Keynote Speakers
Long time USA Swimming Volunteers and National Leven Officials, Lucy & Dick will talk about strategies for identifying and recruiting officials in your clubs.

We are excited to have two clinicians conducting our athlete clinics.  They will work with the 11 & under swimmers in the morning session and the 12 & over swimmers in the afternoon session.  This is a tremendous opportunity for our swimmers to talk with and swim with two world class swimmers!  

Blake Pieroni is from Chesterton, Indian.   He swam at Indiana University graduating in 2018.  Career Highlights:  Triple gold medalist at the 2018 FINA World Championships (25m) - 200m free, 400m free relay, 400m medley relay; Gold medalist in the 800m free relay at 2018 Pan Pacs; Winner of the 100m free and runner-up in the 200m free at 2018 Phillips National Championships; Gold medalist in the 400m free relay and mixed 400m free relay, Won gold in the 400m free relay at the 2016 Olympic Games

 

Annie Lazor is from Beverly Hills, Michigan.  She swam at Auburn, graduating in 2016.  Career Highlights:  Swept the breaststroke events at the 2019 Pan American Games; Gold medalist in the 200m breast at the 2018 FINA World Championships (25m); Finalist in the 200m breast at 2016 Olympic Trials; Bronze medalist in the 200m breast at 2015 Pan Am Games; Finished 10th in the 200y breast to earn All-America honors at 2015 NCAAs; Finished eighth in the 200m breast at 2014 Phillips Nationals

WORKSHOPS

OFFICIALS CLINICS
10:00 AM  -  12:00 PM  "Foundations of Officiating"
1:00 PM  -  ???    "Relationship between the CJ, Starter, Referee and Admin"


Lucy & Dick Duncan are longtime volunteers of USA Swimming and are among the ranks of national officials. Lucy has served on the National Officials Committee for eight years, worked as assistant Admin Referee at the 2012 Olympic Trials, and is one of the first women to became a National Championship Meet Referee. Lucy & Dick have been very active in the Indiana LSC and in the Central Zone. Dick’s expertise is well known in the Starter community. He and Lucy have served tirelessly as mentors and evaluators. The morning workshop is geared toward S/T, Apprentice & Prospective Officials; the afternoon workshop is geared toward CJ, Starter, Referee & Admin.  Both are open to all.

 

COACHES' CLINICS

Kate Lundsten, is the Head Coach of the Aquajets Swim Team in Minneapolis, MN.  She has been a USA Swimming coach for 20 years and has led the Aquajets to become a Minnesota swimming powerhouse, setting more than 60 Minnesota State Records. Kate has been selected as an assistant coach for the USA National and USA Junior National Teams. She is widely recognized as a superior stroke technician and encourages and promotes strong technique in practice.  Kate will talk with the coaches about having a "Swimming First Mindset" in the morning workshop and "Training Best Practices" in the afternoon workshop.  There will be a coaches meeting and Luncheon between the morning and afternoon sessions

 

PARENT CLINICS
9:30 AM  -  11:00 AM   "To Push or Not to Push" 
12:30 PM  -  2:00 PM   "How to Create a Confident Competitor"


David Benzel is the Founder of Growing Champions for Life.  He is an author, athlete, sport-family coach and speaker for organizations nationwide.  David brings an athlete’s discipline, a coach’s inspiration, and a parent’s practical experience to teach parents and coaches skills for succeeding in the athletic arena.  His ten years as a commentator for ESPN and the outdoor Life Network provide his audiences with vivid insights and the challenges of sport. Raising two elite-level athletes has given David boundless passion and positive strategies for connecting with our athletic children.   David's moring workshop is geared toward parents of younger swimmers and the afternoon workshop toward parents of older swmmers but both are open to all ages.


 

ATHLETE MEETING

Immediately following the House of Delegates Meeting, the Athletes will get together to decide on the activities and direction for the coming season.  All athletes are encouraged to attend and get involved!!!

This is an opportunity for our club presidents and treasurers to share ideas and issues so that we can learn and grow together. This will be a working lunch presentation for presidents of big, small, new and existing clubs. Together, we can make our clubs better than ever.  Lunch is included with this program
