Dear RAD families,
Due to COVID-19, our Annual Gala Dinner and Fall Auction was cancelled, which is our team’s biggest fundraising event of the year. The funds raised during this event help to offset the general operating costs of the team including pool fees and training equipment. A portion of this money also goes into our swimmers’ scholarship fund.
In lieu of the live auction and raffle, we have decided to host a virtual sweepstakes. On behalf of the Redding Swim Team, we are reaching out to our membership to see if there is anyone who has grand prize items for our sweepstakes, such as a houseboat, staycation, gun range, time share, etc. We also need simple items such as gift cards or gift certificates (Especially restaurants). If this is something you would like to donate or have a connection with someone who would be able to donate an item, please let the committee know as soon as possible. Our hope is to have these by the end of February. Donations can be dropped off at front check-in on the following dates between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.: February 2, 9, 11, 18, or 23rd.
More information will be coming about the Virtual Auction in the next few weeks. The sweepstakes and raffle tickets will open in March. For those that are new, and even those families returning, it is our hope, like in the past, for each family to sell $100 worth of sweepstakes tickets. The great thing is that since there is no paper and everything is done online this year, it will be easier to send a link to the sweepstakes web page to relatives and family friends. There will be prizes for the swimmers who sell a certain number of tickets. The sweepstakes will be drawn at the beginning of April.
