Hello Otter Families!!!

When we say LVST Otters it isn't just the swimmers. It is the swimmers, coaches, parents, siblings, and volunteers that make us all a team. In order for us to be a team we need all families to volunteer to help at swim meets. Some parents have been around for what seems like forever and some parents are brand new to the swimming world. If all the veteran parents can keep an eye out for all the newer parents and swimmers that would be wonderful. If you see someone who looks lost or confused please please help them. All new parents please ask any parents for assistance, if they don't know they can direct you to someone who will.

So with every meet we need volunteer like I said before. There is a wide range of positions that we need filled. Just remember stroke and turn officials need to have completed their training, and all line up ladies or guys need to have their clearances on file with our team. The sign up volunteer times are estimated, the meet is split into 2 sessions. You will be working the 1st or 2nd half of the meet. Every family is required to have at least 1 adult volunteer. You are also able to ask someone if you can shadow them. Shadowing someone would be so you can learn how to do that particular volunteer spot. This should be done separate from your volunteer position. If all volunteer slots are filled and you didn't get to volunteer be sure to take this time to shadow someone!!!

Any time you are volunteering you are always able to go watch your swimmer swim. If you are volunteering in the pool deck you already have the perfect position to see them swim. But if you have a volunteer spot that isn't on the pool deck then just let someone you are working with that you are going to go watch your swimmer and will be right back. Then you can cover for the other person so they can watch their swimmer swim.

We also encourage families to pair up during meets. So if 2 families sit together, one parent can volunteer first half while the other takes care of the swimmers. Then the 2nd half the 2nd parent volunteers while the 1st one takes care of the swimmers.

Any questions please ask!!!
