The Somerset Dolphins is a summer swim team from Chevy Chase, Maryland that competes in the Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL). Our team is open to Town of Somerset  residents, ages 6 to 18, who can pass the deep water test. The team typically practices every afternoon after Memorial Day and each morning after the school year ends. Competitive dual A Swim Meets occur every Saturday morning during the 6-week competition season from mid June through July. B-Meets  are held Wednesday evenings during the season. The team also participates in two all Division events:  Relay Carnival and Divisionals. The season ends after Divisionals with a a Team Banquet where swimmers receive trophies, participate in skits, and celebrate the season. We also host social events throughout the season. The goal of the swim team is simple: have fun, make friends, and create memories.

Our governing body, MCSL, has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 summer swim season. The Somerset Dolphins, guided first and foremost by the health and safety of our swimmers and community, will move forward with a modified 6-week 2020 season beginning Tuesday, June 16th that reflects the spirit of the Dolphins and allows the team to be together safely. Registration details will be emailed to Town residents. Minis will be invited to participate in spirit events but will not participate in any dryland or swim practices in 2020.

The Minis

For children who cannot pass the deep-water test, there is a developmental team, the Minis. Mini swimmers must be between 4 and 7 years old and be able to swim 15 yards. They practice three days a week after school is out. There is also one Mini meet. Mini swimmers are an important part of the swim team and should attend all the social/spirit events.
