Midlothian Family YMCA :

Midlothian Tidal Waves!

The Fall Season is almost upon us and Coaches Garrett and Josiah are looking forward to our returning swimmers! Fall will look a little different than years past due to Covid-19 pandemic. We plan to run Swim Team Clinics for our fall season, which is Swim Team practice only, with no in-person meets due to Phase III restrictions set forth in Virginia. Our first fall session begins the week of September 13 and will run through October 7.

We are very excited and happy to announce that September?s clinics will be held at our Outdoor Pool to allow us more space! These pools do have a gas heater, so if it starts to get cold, we can raise the water temperature.

The YMCA is taking Covid-19 very seriously. For social distancing measures and safety of participants and staff, we will only hold 3 kids per lane and have only 2 days per week options. Coaches will only be allowed to teach from the deck, unless the children are out of the pool watching a demonstration. We will be disinfecting all equipment between use, including ladders, blocks, and kickboards, just to name a few. We will ensure swimmers stay spread apart both in the lane and outside on the deck. Because of our safety measures, this season we will not be able to mix and match options (Monday + Thursday for example). However, swimmers are able to swim 4 days per week, you should just have to register them twice.

We know school looks totally different for just about everyone, so we have adjusted practice times to better accommodate everyone. We are assuming that after a day of digital learning, your swimmer(s) will be ready to bounce off the walls! The following are this season?s practice times through December:

Practices will run either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday or Thursday.
2-3pm Homes School and/or 8 and under
3-4pm 8 and under
4-5pm5 9-12
5-6pm 9-12
6-7 pm 13 and older

We only have limited space so please do not wait until the last minute the register, as we won?t be able to add any additional lane space. Registration can be found here: https://www.ymcarichmond.org/swimming-aquatics/swim-team/swim-clinics/?program_branch_id=601

For those of you with multiple swimmers, we will do our best to accommodate you to allow your swimmers to swim together. These will be decided in a case-by-case basis based on your swimmer?s ability and lane space.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the above email or any other aquatic questions!
