The Timber Cove Dolphins swim team was started in 1964 and is one of the founding members of the Clear Creek Swim League. In 1962, Colonel John Glenn, a NASA astronaut and Timber Cove resident, became the first American to orbit the earth. He did so in a Mercury capsule and in recognition of his historic journey, the Timber Cove pool was designed in the shape of the Mercury capsule. The pool officially opened on July 4, 1963.

The intent of the Timber Cove Dolphins is to teach swimmers the proper techniques of competitive swimming in an encouraging and positive environment to:
1. Promote good sportsmanship and the consistent respect for others.
2. Encourage personal excellence and self discipline.
3. Create an atmosphere where swimming becomes a lifetime sport for our swimmers.
