The Hampshire Regional YMCA Dolphins swim team strives to create a fun and competitive environment for swimmers of all abilities. The foundation of the program is centered in the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The team is divided into five different swim groups to provide opportunities for all ability levels. We offer a wide range of competitions throughout the season including USA sanctioned and YMCA league meets.

Swim Team 2021-2022 Update:

At this time, we are planning to begin Swim Team this fall on September 27, provided coaching staff has been secured. We are in the process of recruiting a Swim Team Head Coach and associated coaching staff for the upcoming season. The positions have been posted and we are actively searching for the best qualified candidates. As always, our goal is to hire a coach with the traits, experience and values we have identified as important to our Y team. We are looking forward to building on our solid foundation for a successful future. As soon as we are fully staffed, we will update everyone on our planned start dates.

If you have any questions, please contact Head Coach, Colin Machat at [email protected]

All new swimmers are required to have a tryout. This can be scheduled by contacting Head Coach Colin Machat at [email protected] The tryout includes the following:
25 yards (one pool length) of butterfly
25 yards of Backstroke
25 yards of Breaststroke
50 yards (two continuous lengths) of freestyle

Pre-Swim Team is an introduction to the sport and focuses on the foundations of all strokes, building stamina and having fun!

The Developmental group introduces and prepares swimmers for swim meets by building strong stroke technique and educating swimmers on proper race strategies, rules and regulations for each stroke and event!

The main focus of the Junior group is fine tuning stroke technique, building stamina and setting them up for success at larger USA Swimming meets. This group is required to have a USA Swimming membership and must attend at least one USA sanctioned meet per season.

The Senior swim group is for experienced and dedicated swimmers. This group’s focus is to prepare swimmers for championship level meets.
