YMCA of Greater Toledo to host 2022 National Gymnastics Championship

The YMCA of Greater Toledo was selected by YMCA of the USA, the Y’s national resource office, to host the 2022 YMCA National Gymnastics Championship. This national tournament has showcased the talent and hard work of young athletes since its debut in 1938.

The championship is scheduled to take place June 22-26, 2022, at the SeaGate Convention Centre, Toledo, Ohio, and will be hosted by the YMCA of Greater Toledo Gymcats, the local gymnastics program supported by parents and the community.

This will be the sixth time YMCA of Greater Toledo has hosted the championship – most recently in 2018. The event is expected to bring more than 4,000 gymnasts, family members and coaches from 100-plus YMCAs nationwide to Toledo.

Throughout 2021 and 2022, Y-USA and YMCA of Greater Toledo will monitor CDC guidance for preventing exposures to COVID-19 and recommended safety precautions will be put into place. Additional restrictions could impact the event schedule or even result in cancellation.

The National Gymnastics Championship is part of the Y's long-standing tradition to help support the health and well-being of kids. Each year, millions of kids participate in Y youth sports -- like gymnastics and swimming -- which helps build self-confidence and instill the importance of teamwork.
