Welcome PEAQ Wahoo swimmers! We are looking forward to a fun and exciting 2018 summer swim season.
The Wahoos are our 2018 summer league swim team based out of Upper St. Clair. Our mission is to promote competitive swimming in our community by providing an opportunity for kids to learn life-long skills, while participating in an exciting team sport. Our team of coaches will work hard to develop stroke technique and proficiency and to encourage good sportsmanship in a fun, team-oriented environment.
The program will run from June 11 through July 27.
Swimmers must be ages 4 through 14 as of June 1, 2018.
Swimmers MUST be able to independently swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) in freestyle for ages 10 and under and 50 yards in freestyle for ages 11 and over. They must be able to do this without stopping to hold onto or pull on the lane rope. If you are not sure whether or not your swimmer meets this requirement, please contact Coach Tawnya (firstname.lastname@example.org) to schedule an evaluation.
Week 1 (June 11-15)
Monday: 5 - 6 pm
Wednesday: 4:30 - 5:30 pm
Thursday: 4:30 - 5:30 pm

Weeks 2 - 7 (June 18 - July 26)

PLEASE NOTE: Wednesdays practice offerings are an “either/or” scenario. You may either attend the morning OR the evening practice, but not both. Thank you!!
All practices will be held at the USC High School pool. While there is no minimum requirement for practice attendance, the more they come, the more they learn!
**Year-round PEAQ Swim Club swimmers are NOT permitted to attend Wahoo practices, as they will already be practicing at their designated club times.
June 26th: PEAQ vs. Bethel Park @ Bethel Park
July 5th: Relay meet @ Bethel Park
July 12th: Bye
July 16th: PEAQ vs. Mt. Lebanon @ Mt. Lebanon
July 24th: PEAQ vs. Peter’s Twp. @ Home
July 26th: Championship meet @ Mt. Lebanon
A mandatory parent meeting (approximately 20 minutes long) will be held at 5:15 during the first night of practice on Monday, June 11th, at the Upper St. Clair HS small gym. This will provide parents with information on how to register their swimmer(s) for meets, volunteer for various opportunities at the meets, and get answers to any questions that you may have about the Wahoo program.
Following the mandatory parent meeting, Jennifer from B and R pools will be available for anyone who needs or wants to purchase a team suit (optional), goggles, etc.
** If your swimmer participated on our Developmental team during the 2017/2018 season, and already paid the registration fee, the $30 seasonal USA Swimming membership fee will be waived.
Fees for current PEAQ club members (AG1 through Junior) will be $50.
The Wahoo summer swim team relies upon parents to volunteer their time and energies to make the program successful. All parents are needed to volunteer. Swim meets and team supervision are run by parents, coaches, and team managers. Most of the positions are very easy to perform and require minimal training. A few positions require one training session.
