I am so happy to be able to say “Welcome back Marlins!”
It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it?
Things will be a little different as we start this season. We have a number or restrictions and limitations that we have to keep top of mind as our swimmers gather together to train in the sport they love. Head coach Duffy and and Assistant Coach Chris will fill everyone in on the details during your Zoom group meetings.
We also expect that the rules and guidance we must follow at the Summit Centre will continue to evolve, meaning we will have to be flexible and ready to adapt our programming as we progress through the swim season.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created such upheaval and stress in our lives, and in our swimmers’ lives. Now, perhaps more than ever, our swimmers need to get back training hard at the pool and having fun!
The pandemic has also caused financial strain for many of us, and the last 8 months have been tough on our club as well, with the January snowstorm, the Summit closure in early February and the subsequent shutdown. But we are still here and we are not going anywhere!
We won’t be able to hold our two biggest fundraisers this fall, being the auction and dance, and Sink or Swim. Nonetheless, we do have some exciting fundraising opportunities coming up! Fundraising will be especially important this year to offset club expenses in order that we can maintain our annual fees at a reasonable level. We all benefit from fundraising, and many hands make light work, so get involved! We have proven time and again that we can accomplish great things when we all work together. On behalf of the board of directors and our dedicated coaches, who have all worked extremely hard to get this season underway, we ask you for your patience and understanding as we move ahead in these trying times, and we thank you for your continued support of the Marlins. We will get through this together!#Marlinsmakingwaves
