Open for New Members
9/1/18 - 8/31/19
Welcome to the National Training Center, the sports and fitness initiative of South Lake Hospital. We are excited that your family is interested in our NTC Aquatics programming!
NTC Aquatics offers programs for swimmers of all levels. Those interested in joining the NTC Lightning, our competitive swimming program, are asked to attend an evaluation, which includes performing all four strokes. Our NTC Lightning staff will discuss the most appropriate level of our aquatics program for the swimmer. In the event your swimmer doesn't yet possess the minimum standards, we offer Swim America competitive lessons to prepare everyone for team membership.
NTC Lightning will provide quality leadership and instruction from our highly trained and experienced coaching staff. We maintain a safe team environment where every swimmer is encouraged to build friendships, work hard, and have fun in the process of their development.
Please contact us if you have questions regarding our programs. We are always accepting new members and we look forward to you becoming a part of the NTC Lightning program. Only proceed with this registration if your swimmer is already a member of NTC Lightning or has attended a try-out and been assigned a training group. Once you have completed the online registration process, our staff will process your information. You will be notified by email when your registration request has been approved and your swimmer will then be invited to join practice sessions.
What is SwimFit? (Starts November 5, 2018)
SwimFit is a technique-based swimming fitness program that utilizes the same core principles of the NTCA Competitive Team. NTCA coaches will instruct swimmers on all four competitive strokes with the goal being to gain endurance through drills and kicking. Athletes will also be instructed on racing skills such as dives, turns, and streamlines. Everyone will leave feeling like they got a good workout and are part of a swim team.
At the completion of each session, the swimmers will have the opportunity to compete in a practice meet, which will provide a positive environment to dive from the starting blocks, practice racing and show off newly learned skills.
Why do SwimFit?
SwimFit is a great opportunity for athletes who want to continue swimming after the completion of their summer league, middle school or high school season. It is also ideal for athletes who participate in multiple sports as a means to continue their progression of skills and overall strength throughout the year. Every level of SwimFit aims to provide a positive and fun learning environment for developing swimmers.
The SwimFit program can be the ideal avenue for swimmers to get onto the NTCA competitive team and ultimately, is a great way to get introduced to the terminology, skills and technique-based progression used throughout the NTCA programs. SwimFit can also be a way for swimmers to learn the four competitive strokes during each session, providing them a great way to stay fit. For swimmers looking to get ready for the upcoming school season, SwimFit is the ideal stepping stone to continue development.
At the completion of each session, coaches from the competitive team will work with athletes who have demonstrated progress, willingness, and the appropriate skills and strength to transition onto the competitive team and aid in that process.
