Summer 2020 Swim Team

Today

Welcome to Dexter Community Aquatic Club's registration for the Summer 2020 swim season!

First and foremost, we hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. We have received questions from the community about if and how COVID-19 will change the way we operate our venue. We are excited to let you know that we plan to reopen while following CDC guidance to protect our swimmers, staff, and our community.

The health and safety of our swimmers and coaches remain our highest priority. Below you will find a summary of actions we are taking to help ensure we are lowering the risk of COVID-19 exposure as much as possible while also allowing our swimmers to enjoy the water. We are:

Promoting healthy hygiene practices, such as encouraging all coaches and swimmers to stay home if they are unwell, wash their hands frequently, cover coughs and sneezes, and wear cloth face coverings when not in the water.

Increasing cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces. We'll have the main doors open in the breezeway at all times. The bathrooms will only be used for emergency purposes and PLEASE NOTE that there will be no use of the locker rooms for changing.

To ensure social distancing, we'll use the following drop off and pick up procedure:

Swimmers will be lined up outside of the front entrance to the pool, 6 feet apart, with suits on, ready to swim.

A coach or member of the DCAC parent board will be at the check in table taking temperatures of each swimmer. Parents must wait until their child(ren) has been cleared to swim.

Swimmers will enter the pool one at a time and maintain at distance of at least 6 feet at all times. Swimmers will be staggered in their lanes throughout practice to maintain social distancing between sets.

Each practice group will be divided in half with 1/2 starting with dryland and 1/2 in the pool; midway through practice, groups will switch places.

For pick up, swimmers will exit out of the back door. We ask that all parents stay in their car in the parking lot for pick up and allow the kids exiting to come to your car so we don't create a long line between those dropping off and picking up.

Equipment will not be shared and all swimmers will need to bring their own (kickboard, pull-buoy, fins, hand paddles).

All practices will be at the Dexter High School pool.

For health and safety reasons, parents will not be allowed to observe on the pool deck this season.

June 22 until Pool Opening will be Dryland only. We will let everyone know once we're allowed to open the pool, until then, practice will be DRYLAND ONLY.  Dryland and dropoff for the time being will be in the HS dropoff circle near the amphitheater.
