Welcome to online registration for the Trails Swim Team 2021 Summer season!
As we are gearing up for our 2021 season, some information and guidelines have changed due to the pandemic. Even so, we are so happy to be on track for a fun and exciting season with our returning families and new families as well!
Per the Village of Algonquin guidelines, this summer, the Locker Rooms will not be available during practice or meets for swimmers to change or shower. The bathrooms will be available for use.
Our concessions will only consist of prepackaged foods and drinks. (Pizza, fruits and homemade items will not be sold this year.) Since a lot of our families rely on eating dinner at the meets, we are letting you know this ahead of time so you can plan accordingly.
Our biggest team fundraiser, Trails Invitational, is canceled for 2021. This event usually brings out about 500+ people and due to limited space and covid restrictions, we are not able to host this huge and fun event in 2021.
B U T in place of that event, we will have a Swimathon this year as our main fundraiser. Due to our season being canceled in 2020, we were not able to raise any money to offset the normal financial expenses incurred last year
(insurance, technology fees, etc). We are asking every family to help raise a minimum of $100 to reach a minimum of $8,000. Please refer to the Swimathon tab on our website for more information. More details will be communicated when the season gets closer. In anticipation of full participation of this event, the board has agreed to keep registration fees the same as last year.
Team philosophy. Every swimmer matters. Trails is a recreational summer team and times are not USA Swimming or ISI registered. If you are looking for next level training for your swimmer, please consider a year-round competitive league. Our goal is to stimulate an interest in competitive swimming and provide a fun social environment for competitive swimmers to maintain fitness without the demands and intensity of a more aggressive winter league. Trails Swim Team is about: Teamwork, Respect, Attitude, Integrity, Leadership and of course Swimming. It’s a short 8-week season so while we do practice technique and competition, it’s not the primary focus of our team. We value sportsmanship on and off the pool deck, in practice and in competition. Parents and swimmers will be held to the team Code of Conduct.
Space is limited. In order to ensure our swimmers have the best possible experience in the water and to accommodate new covid restrictions, Trails limits the number of swimmers in each age group. If you find the registration for your age group is full, please register to the age group waitlist so that we can let you know as soon as possible if a spot opens up!
New Swimmers. Swimmers new to competitive swim aged 5-8 must be able to cross the pool (25 meters) independently. Older swimmers should be able to swim at least 50 meters without stopping. A three-day evaluation and trial period is available at the start of the season to ensure your child's readiness. They will be evaluated by the Head Coach, Age Group Coach and a board member for approval. You may request to suspend payment if you are unsure of your swimmer’s readiness.
Parent volunteers. Trails Swim Team is a not-for-profit organization run by a board of parent volunteers. Trails relies heavily on parent support and involvement to be successful. Parents are required to work a portion of every home swim meet that their family participates in.
Trails is part of the NCISC, along with Cary, DeKalb, Geneva, Huntley, McGuire Athletics, Oswego, Rock River Valley and Woodstock. New for 2021: Rochelle Park District!
The Trails Swim Team is a tax-exempt non profit organization run by volunteer Board of Directors. All members are welcome and encouraged to be involved in team activities.
