Springfield Aquatic Club offers the following
Pre-Team - This is SAC's
beginning group for our younger swimmers that have no competitive
background, but are advanced past swim lessons. Coaches will
concentrate on swimmers mastering all four competitive strokes and
getting them ready for future competition on the swimming
team. All swimmers MUST be able to swim at least one lap of
freestyle without stopping or hanging on to the wall.
Intra-squad mini meet will be held at the end of the season
- SAC divers train and compete in the Suburban Aquatics League
(SAL) dual meet season. Divers earn points at their meets and
are added to the swim meet score to determine the winner in a
swimming/diving dual meet. Practices are held during the
evenings during the week and on weekends. Meets are
traditionally on Saturdays or determined by the diving
- These are swimmers that have competitive experience through the
summer, fall/winter SAL , or USA swimming seasons. This will
group will master and strokes and turns and increase conditioning
through practices. A pace clock is incorporated into their
training. It is the expectation from the coaching staff that
these swimmers attend as many practices during the week, but
practices are not mandatory. Attendance at SAL meets is
highly encouraged for more racing experience and team unity.
The more instruction and conditioning a swimmer receives, the
greater success he/she will see in the water. (October-January or
Program - The goals of SAC’s USA
Swimming program are to provide a means for the continued
improvement of swimmers’ abilities and to promote the
involvement of swimmers in the USA swimming program and meets.
The USA swimming program is an optional SAC program that is
geared for the athlete who really enjoys competitive swimming and
wants to make an increased commitment to the sport, with 3 or 4
practices a week strongly encouraged. Practices specifically
for SAC’s USA swimming group follow the end of the
SAC’s regular swimming practices which end the beginning of
February, These USA practices, with a smaller number of swimmers,
allow for increased personal attention from the coaches.
SAC’s USA swimmers will attend competitive,
invitational style meets throughout the entire calendar year,
letting them improve racing skills and lead to faster times.
These meets are different and in addition to SAC’s
regular Suburban Aquatic League meets.
Polo - SAC offers Age-Group and High School water polo
programs starting in mid-march until May. Spartan Pride teams
compete in the American Water Polo Main Line League.
Practices are offered on the evenings of the weekdays and games are
traditionally on Saturday or Sundays at various local pools.
Age group instruction focuses on learning the skills and game
strategies of water polo. High school instruction increases
in intensity with training and the finer techniques of elevating
