Program Descriptions and Schedules

The Westchester Aquatic Club Wolverines offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Wolverines to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

We are Offering Early Pre-Season Evaluations & Registration for Fall 2012.



Pre-Season Evaluations & Registration:  

  • Allows you to bring your child to be evaluated, placed & registered for our Fall Programs ahead of the September Rush.
  • Secures your child placement on our team as our programs are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, certain programs may be closed out if you wait until September. 
  • Evaluations are done at Monday Thru Friday at Saxon Woods Pool on  Mamaroneck Avenue from 9:00 to 10:00 am August  20th thru the  31st.
  • Email Carleswim@aol.com to set up an appointment for your child to be evaluated.


Wolverines now offer the option to by for fees using any major credit card.

Future Stars Team

The Future Stars  is the developmental and entry level of the  competitive program for swimmers who can stroke Freestyle with there face in the water and who can do some Backstroke.  (Ages 5-9).  Coaches work on fine tuning swimmers individual skills.  Proper body position, breathing, and form are developed through competitive drills.  Practice is 30 minutes long and swimmers Practice  1x or  2x per week. 

Practice Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday from 4:30-5:00 pm – Saturday – 9:00-9:30 am & Sunday 12:00-12:30 pm

Bronze Team

The Bronze Team is the next step of the competitive program. Bronze swimmers must be a Level 2 Swimmer, which means they can stroke Freestyle with rhythmic breathing and who can do backstroke. (Ages 5-10). Introduction to competitive swimming, proper technique of all four competitive strokes and diving.  Proper form is reinforced through drills.  Endurance and interval training is introduced.  Swimmers are introduced to all aspects of competitive swimming including self-respect and respect for others, commitment, goal setting, strategies in achieving goals, and sportsmanship.  The foundation is built for future success in competitive swimming. Practice is 45 minutes and swimmers Practice 1x or 2x per week.  Coach:  Jamie D'Agostino

Practice Schedule:  Monday thru Friday from 4:30-5:15 pm - Saturday – 9:00-9:45 am & Sunday 12:00-12:45 pm.

Competitive Programs

 

Silver Team

From the Bronze group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group focus mainly on learning four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique. Proper body position, breathing, and form are developed through competitive drills and endurance training.  This program is structured.  We teach the swimmers to respect each other and how to work together as a team.  Gradual endurance and stamina are developed.

Silver A Team

Swimmers must be a Level 4 Swimmer which means they must be able to do 50 yards of both freestyle and backstroke as well as 25 yards of both breaststroke and butterfly.   Swimmers are placed in Silver A or Silver B based upon ability and age.  Swimmers practice 2 to 3 times per week.  Silver A Practice session is 1 hour and 15 minutes. 

Practice Schedule: Monday thru Friday 4:45-6:00, Saturday 9:00-10:15 am & Sunday 11:30-12:45  pm.

Silver B Team

Swimmers must be a Level 3 Swimmer which means they must be able to do 25 yards of both freestyle and backstroke as well as 25 yards of either breaststroke and butterfly.  

Practice Schedule:Silver B Practice session is 1 hour.  Monday thru Friday 4:30-5:30 pm, Saturday 9:00-10:00 am & Sunday 11:45-12:45 pm.

Junior Team 

The Junior Team is composed of advanced-level junior swimmers, ages 7-12. Swimmers in this group can swim all four competitive strokes legally. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis.   Swimmers are placed in this group based on meet performance, practice performance, training habits, etc.

Attendance Recommendations:  The recommended practice attendance for the Junior I group is 2-4 practices per week.

Select Junior Team

Select Junior Group – The Select Junior Group is for dedicated swimmers, ages 8-13.   Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. The emphasis will be on refining stroke mechanics and preparing for the rigors of more intense training. Swimmers are placed in this group based on meet performance, practice performance, training.
