2020 Membership Information

Our desire is to welcome back every swimmer from last year’s team. We want everyone to continue to enjoy the fun, the competition and the camaraderie that is the Brookdale Buccaneers.

Also, as a sub-board of the Brookdale Racquet Club (BRC), it is one of our tasks to ensure BRC bond-holders have a place on the team. We’re also wary of overloading certain age and gender groups, so we’re not going to extend our facilities and coaches too far. So here is our registration plan:

March 9 - April 5 - Registration Open for all Returning 2019 Members

All 2019 swimmers (and their siblings who are new to the team) can go to and register for the team. This is the ONLY window in which returning swimmers and their siblings can sign up for the Bucs.  If you register after this time, there is no guarantee that there will be a spot available.

March 11 - Parent Information Night

We are hosting our Annual Paren Information Night from at 7:00pm at Hill Middle School. This is the time for new families as well as returning families to go over details about the season – and volunteer for open parent chair positions.

March 16 - April 5 - Registration Opens for New Members

All new families who want to join the Brookdale Bucs swim team can register during this timeframe.

Each family is required to work six (6) total jobs:
• 5 regular jobs
• 1 general pool
• Girls and/or Boys Invitational Meets (if you have a swimmer competing)
• City and/or Classic Meets (if you have a swimmer competing)

Wednesday, April 15 - Swimsuit Fitting

Swimmers Edge will be onsite with swimsuits to try on and an array of accessories for purchase at Hill Middle School from 5:00 - 7:30pm. This will give you an opportunity to try on the suit for the best size and order personalized caps and other items from Swimmers Edge for a 15% discount.  You can still go to their store for all of the same options if you cannot make this date.

April 19 - Swimmer Profiency Event

Brookdale Bucs coaches will be at Kroehler YMCA in Downtown Naperville on Sunday, April 19 from 3:15 - 4:30pm. All potential new swimmers must pass a swim test (freestyle and backstroke) during this time frame OR produce a certificate from DuPage Swim Club, Bear Paddle, Goldfish or another Learn to Swim program that asserts that your swimmer can handle 12.5 yards of freestyle and 12.5 yards of backstroke if they are 6 and under and 25 yards for both strokes for 7 and up.  This is not a "tryout", but a test to ensure the swimmers will be safe during practices and meets.

Saturday, May 2 - Job Sign-Up and Meet Declaration Open at 8:00am

Each family is required to work six (6) total jobs: 5 regular jobs and 1 general pool. Online job sign-up closes on Friday, May 22 at 12:00pm.

Meet Declaration closes one week before each meet and will be strictly enforced.  A swimmer will not be eligible to compete in any swim meets until the family has signed up for all of the family job requirements and all required fees have been paid.

May 26 - First Day of Practice & Meet the Coaches Kick-Off Party

Practice begins on Tuesday, May 26.  There will also be a Meet the Coaches Popsicle Party beforehand.  We will have evening practices until school is out.  The full schedule will be posted as it gets closer to the start of the season.

June 6 - Time Trials

Time Trials will be held for all swimmers on Saturday, June 6 at 8:30am. Swimmers need to be ready for warm-ups by 7:45am. The purpose of this meet is to set baseline times for all swimmers in every event, except the individual medley. This meet is exhibition and does not count towards City eligibility times or pool records. It does count as a baseline for our Bucs Buck program. This is also an excellent opportunity for swimmers and parents to prepare for an official meet.
