Team Suits and Swim Caps

There is a direct link button on the web page that will take you directly to the suit and store. Swim Things will be at the Hurricane Open House on April 27th from 3:00-5:00 pm if you'd like to have your swimmer try on the suit before ordering..

We would like each swimmer to have a Hurricanes swim cap, but it is not required. Caps with other team logos are not permitted, but plain black caps are acceptable. Caps will be available for purchase at Concessions at home meets as well as practices.  In addition, personalized caps may be ordered at the beginning of the season.  More information will be shared about this process as it becomes available.

Spirit Wear

Spirit Wear will be available for order through the team website as the season gets closer.  Look for an email with a spriitwear link soon!  Each swimmer will be given a  t-shirt at the beginning of the season. Conference Qualifiers will receive a free Conference shirt.

Parent Meeting

There will be an open house at the Hills of Walden Clubhouse on Saturday, April 27th, 2019 from 3:00-5:00 pm.  We will have a parent meeting at 4:00 on that day for parents who have questions or would like basic information about the team.  Coaches and board members will be present to answer questions as well.

Practice

Practice for the Hurricanes begins the week of Memorial Day.  A specific date is not yet set, due to school snow days.    We will have some evening practices until school is out, and regular morning practices will begin as soon as Park Hill Schools are out for the summer.  Practice times (Monday-Thursday after school gets out) are as follows:

Ages 13 & Over: 8:15am to 9:30am

Ages 11-12:   9:15am to 10:15am

Ages 9-10: 10:00am to 11:00am

Ages 8 & Under 11:00am -11:45 am

Typhoons: 11:45am to 12:15 pm (No Friday practices) - Typhoons will not start until the 2nd week of June.

All practices are held at the Walden neighborhood pool.  We will have "Fun Friday" practices on Fridays following meets.  If there is not a meet on Thursday, we will have regular Monday-Thursday practice times.  "Fun Friday" practice times are listed on the "Practice Schedule" tab of the website.

Non-Competitive Pools

Per USA Swimming Guidelines: NO swimmer is allowed in a non-competition pool during any swim meet. Doing this invalidates the USA swimming insurance for the entire team. This applies to both Walden residents and non-residents and will be very strictly enforced at both home meets and away meets. Swimmers who do not follow this rule are at risk for being barred from the remainder of any meet. (The non-competitive pool at Walden is the small pool with the diving boards—please stay out of this pool during our home meets!)

Non-Residents

Teammates who are non Hills of Walden residents are not allowed to use the Walden facilities outside of practices and meets unless they are accompanied and in the presence of a Walden resident. This policy has been set in place by the Hills of Walden Homeowners Association Board of Directors.  There is a $10.00 charge for non-residents that is paid during the registration process.

Safety and Courtesy at Meets

Please respect the perimeter around the pool during competition. Parents should maintain a distance of at least four feet from the pool’s edge at all times so the meet officials and coaches can fulfill their responsibilities to the swimmers. All parents are encouraged to photograph and cheer for the team, but this must be done in an inconspicuous manner that does not interfere with the meet’s progress. Also, unless you are timing, please do not congregate behind the starting blocks or at the Clerk of Course as these areas become very congested. These guidelines will help ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone.
