Team Reps / Assistant Coaches will be available at both registrations dates to answer questions. For more information or specific questions email: WilloughbyWaves@comcast.netor call 615-293-6662.

Swim ability- be able to swim the length of the Junior Olympic Pool. (Dog paddle counts as freestyle). If your child has a desire to get from one end of the pool to the other, they are welcome and encouraged to join the team. The coach, assistant coaches and experienced swimmer volunteers work together to develop young swimmers abilities. We are a swim team, not swim lessons. Our focus is on team-work and competitive swimming techniques.

Practices- are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday (generally) - Ages 10 & under practice from (6:00pm - 7:00pm), 11 & up (7:00pm – 8:00 pm). Willoughby Swim Team practice sessions start May 22nd and continue up to the City Meet.

Children 10 & under must be accompanied by an adult at practice. Attendance of swimmers at practice is not required, although is highly recommended to get the most out of our short season.

Meets - there are three Home Meets and one Away Meet this year. Meets are typically scheduled on Tuesdays (8:00 am- 2:00 pm). Inclement weather can vary the start time of a Swim Meet. Each child must compete in at least 2 regular season meets in order to qualify for the City Meet.

Experienced swimmers - may be asked to assist younger swimmers. Coaches may ask swimmers to help with equipment before or after practice/ assist with pool staging for Home meets/Clean up after meets/ to be a mentor for a younger swimmer/etc.  Team work is our focus for swimmers and parents alike.

  • PARENTS ARE REQUIRED to fulfill volunteer positions at regular season SWIM MEETS and CITY Championship MEET. We need lane timers, judges, scorekeepers, runners, concession stand workers and many more. Parents, who knew nothing about swim team last year, have become a tremendous help to the team’s function. We need Parent Volunteers at each of our Swim Meets (Home and Away). We are asking a parent(s) to help a minimum of three half sessions during the season plus City Meet. A $50 per session will be requested from those families that are not willing to meet the parent volunteer requirements.

Costs- Registration fees are due with your registration form. Your $85.00 fee will cover Team expenses. Second child registration within the same family will be offered at a reduced rate of $75.00. Your swim fee is non-refundable. We are a Non-Profit group and are only passing our actual expenses to the swimmer. The Willoughby Waves is a separate entity from the Willoughby Home Owners Association and is financially supported by the swim fees collected. There is a minimal additional fee (@ $15.00) for those swimmers who qualify/want to compete in the City Meet (July 12-13 2019). More information to come.

Suits- If you did not swim with us last year, or have outgrown your suit, you will need to purchase a team swimsuit. All team suits, either Male or Female, are $25.00 this year. There will be no refunds on swimsuits purchased. Our WW suit sizing advisor will be available with sample suits for fit consultation during the April 13th – Poolside Registration. Please have your swimmer at registration, especially if you will need a swim suit this year. Suits are in EU sizes.

T-shirts/ Team Swim Caps- We are fortunate to have several corporate sponsors who support our Team. With their donations we are able to provide each registered swimmer with a Team T-shirt and Team Swim Cap (latex).
