13-18 AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS WRAP UP and RECORD BREAKERS!

A special thank you to Phil and Janet Harty, Meet Directors, and Greenwood Memorial Swim Club for an outstanding job running the 13-18 Age Group Championships at Boston University. Also, thank you to Bob Menck, Meet Referee and Scott Doty, Admin Official for all of their hard work officiating and enforcing the rules!

Congratulations to Phoenix Swimming, the 2014 Age Group Champions! Phoenix won the meet with over 500 points to Crimson Aquatics, who came in second. Charles River Aquatics edged out the Bluefish for 3rd place by less than 100 points. Sunday finals was an exciting finish to a weekend of fast racing and record breaking swims!

Congratulations to our Record breakers at the 13-18 Age Group Championships:

Max Miranda (ABF) started 13-18 Age Groups off with a new NE 13-14 record in the 1000 free. Max's time of 9:24.63 broke the old record of 9:25.33 set by Kevin Bradley (CRIM) in 2009! During a time trial, Max broke Brian Poon (PHX)'s 13-14 NE and RES 100 fly records! His time of 50.76 broke Brian's previous marks of 51.91 set in 2012. In the  200 free, Max's time  of 1:41.02 broke his own NE record of 1:42.65 set last year! Max broke his own NE and RES records in the 200 fly with a 1:50.63!  Drew Carbone (NWSC) and Max  both broke both the NE and RES records in the 200 Backstroke with Max coming out on top by .02 with a time of 1:52.23. The previous NE record was 1:52.76 set by Brian Poon (PHX) and the RES record was 1:52.46 set by Brian Fiske (MVP). Finally, Max Miranda broke the13-14 NE 100 free record with a 46.96! The old record was 47.24 set by Corey Swanson (MAG) in 2003!
 
The PHX boys 13-14 200 medley relay of Sebastian Melendez, Nick Diebold, Christian Schoen and Adi Arifović swam a time of 1:41.09 breaking the previous NE and RES records of 1:41.81 set by the Gators relay of W. Hrabchak, P. Petrossian, H. Gaissert and J. Prindle last year!
 
Calvin Yang (CRIM) broke the 13-14 NE and RES 100 breaststroke records. His time of 58.81 broke the RES record of 59.49 set by Brian Poon in 2012 and the NE record of 58.94 set by Christian Higgins (NCY) in 2007! Calvin also swam a 2:07.60 in the 13-14 200 breaststroke to break P.J. Sullivan (ABF)'s RES record of 2:08.44 set in 2000.
 
The BGSC 13-14 Girls 400 free relay of Cathleen Li, Kelly Mitchell, Jess Gearan and Maddie Wallis set new NE and RES records with a time of 3:34.59. The old records of 3:36.65 were held by the HYV relay team of A.Strzempko, K. Lacoste, M. Werenski, and M. Kwarzinski. The same girls broke the13-14 200 free relay NE and RES records with a time of 1:39.03. The old record was 1:39.04 set by Kyra Sarazen, Izzy Reis, Corinne Noonan and Sophie Kenny of EST in 2011.
