ELECTIONS INFORMATION AND SLATE POSTED

The slate below is for the general information of all Hawaiian Swimming members. It is not the official ballot which has been emailed to the delegates. That ballot may be returned to the LSC Secretary, Wendy Shigeta, by EMAIL from the delegates registered email account. It can NOT be mailed to the Secretary. The official ballot may be brought to HOD meeting and turned in there.

THE NOMINATION COMMITTEE POSTED THIS OPEN SLATE. IT HAS THEIR CURRENT NOMINEES. NOTE THAT THE COMMITTEE DID NOT RECOMMEND A NOMINEE FOR Club, Athlete, and Special Programs Development Coordinator.  THE INCUMBENT, RON IWAMOTO, DECIDED NOT TO RUN FOR A SECOND TERM.  THEY ALSO DID NOT NOMINATE NEW MEMBERS FOR THE NOMINATION COMMITTEE.  NOMINATIONS FOR THESE POSITIONS WILL BE MADE AT THE ELECTIONS MEETING.

Delegates may vote at any time prior to the meeting after they receive an official BALLOT (to be emailed on October 26, 2013) until November 14 according to the Bylaws. Once they have submitted their ballot, they can not vote again. They may of course “write-in” their vote for someone not on the ballot.

Finally, the Bylaws allow for the House of Delegates to nominate individuals from the floor if the individuals agree to be nominated at the meeting or in writing. Those nominees will be added to any outstanding BALLOTS and those ballots will be cast and counted with the electronic ballots that have been received by the deadline of November 14. The individual with the highest count of votes will be declared the winner. In the case of a tie, the delegates present at the HOD meeting will vote to break the tie.

The voting process is meant to allow the membership time to see the official slate and encourages their participation in selection of nominees and the participation of the club delegates in the actual voting process, even if they can not be present at the elections meeting.  If nominees wish to do so, we will post their comments on the office for which they are running and their vision of what they would like to do if elected. Depending on their preference we will send those comments to the members of the House of Delegates and, if they wish, post them on the website.
