Important Update!

Good Evening NFS Family,

This isn’t the “big” e-mail that many of you have been waiting for but I think some of this will be informative and may even alleviate a little stress, which we can all use.

First of all, we haven’t come up with a permanent schedule of where we will go once the pool closes because things keep changing (usually for the better, see next paragraph!) and as has been our intentions from the beginning, we need to make sure that the schedule is as convenient as possible. I don’t think it is a secret that Jacksonville doesn’t have an abundance of facilities that will fit our needs, but I promise that we are working with the city, private clubs and some other organizations to find the best options. Hopefully we will have the details in the next week or 2 so you can begin to plan your schedules.

However, there is some good news that we can now confirm. UNF has agreed to allow us to continue practicing though March 12. While the extra 12 days may not seem that important, what it does is allow us to train at UNF through Sr. Champs and FLAGS, which is huge. And since our team was going to break for Spring Break anyways (March 15-23) there are only a few days that we would have been in the water that we now won't.

I hope most of you saw the newspaper article which ran Tuesday. I think the writer did a very good job but she did leave out a few things. She didn’t mention the names of the people in community that are helping us behind the scenes and she didn’t mention that we have partnered up with The Inman Company to help raise the money. They are one of the top financial advisory companies around that specialize in securing “local” funds for local projects. Bill Inman and original Jacksonville Jaguar Tom McManus have been instrumental behind the scenes the last few months and those efforts should start paying off very soon.

Many of you have asked about helping. Besides your time, the other thing we are going to need is money. The financial team is working to raise the capital 2 ways – investments and contributions. As you know, NFS is a 501(c)(3) and all donations made are tax deductible. The Inman Company is working on all aspects money and those opportunities will be made public very soon. However, if you – or anyone you know – would like to provide a donation to the general fund we have set-up an escrow account to handle those. Specifics will be available soon with incentive deals, packages, sponsorship opportunities, etc. If you are interested, please let me know and I will make sure the right people reach out you, privately.

Lastly I will end this by saying that over the years I have had the pleasure of getting to know many of you but our team has grown and I there are many members that I do not know yet. For those of you who don’t know me, I think most people will tell you that I am pretty laid-back and pretty honest. I am not going to sell you on something that I don’t believe in. There are several NFS parents and coaches have spent many hours making sure this team not only continues, but continues on the path that has been set. It is probably taking a little longer than most of us would have liked (what doesn’t) but I can tell you with 100% certainty that if it didn’t take this long, we wouldn’t be in the position we are in now. The plan is solid and the people who have come aboard are as good as it gets. Our team is still growing, which is a tribute to the coaches as well as our families. It may get a little inconvenient at times but I really think that in the not-too-distant future we will have something that will make all the sacrifices worth it.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks

mark
